Inspiring Conversations with EmmaSara McMillion of The Mother of Change Show

Today we’d like to introduce you to EmmaSara McMillion.

Hi EmmaSara, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I remember being one of those kids who always looked at the world through a contemplative lens. Born in southeast Los Angeles to teen parents, my mom and dad could have easily fit into a ton of statistics. My dad was from Mexico, and my mom was one of six kids raised by a single mom. But those two young people did something amazing… They decided to break the mold. They decided to take my brother and me from the gang-infested streets of Los Angeles and start over.

Growing up, I realized that in life, we can step away from generational norms to chart a new way of existing, and my dad was a perfect example of that when he built up a million-dollar company single-handedly through diligence and hard work. So the seed of change grew in my heart, and this girl who was born on the bad side of town grew up to be a world changer and cultural shifter.

As a mom of eight kids, I understand the sacrifice and fortitude my parents made as young parents. So now, I am driven to help other families around the globe break generational bad habits and poor attitudes that can create brokenness. Our family is doing this through our media companies and global TV show, The Mother of Change Show, reaching over 236 million homes in over 130 countries via satellite, cable, and all major streaming platforms. Our show equips, encourages, empowers, and INSPIRES moms worldwide to rise up in their royal role as mothers.

I am proud to be a mother of change, a chain breaker, and a change-maker. The Mother of Change Movement is a culture shifter, empowering families around the world to rise above their socio-economic conditions and create positive change. Through my journey of overcoming adversity, I have learned that world changers are born into hard places to create the greatest change.

My story serves as a powerful reminder that we don’t have to live marginalized by our circumstances if we are willing to work hard and break free from generational patterns of brokenness. So let us all be inspired to create positive change in our own lives and in the lives of those around us.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey to becoming a mother of change and cultural shifter has certainly not been a smooth road. Because my extended family originated from poverty, I was constantly surrounded by poverty and brokenness. Although my parents were determined to break free from the cycle of generational poverty, it was not easy.

As a child, I could have been faced with many challenges, like lack of resources, exposure to crime and violence, and limited access to education. But I can remember when I was in second grade, my mom sent us to school to another school district away from our neighborhood. One time her car broke down, so she rode me and my little brother to school on a beach cruiser. It was about a 30 min bike ride with a kid on the handlebars and one on the frame. Despite these obstacles, my parents instilled in me a sense of responsibility, accountability, and resilience. They taught me that I was capable of achieving great things if I worked hard and stayed focused.

However, I faced new challenges as an adult, such as balancing motherhood with entrepreneurship and building a global TV show. There were many times when I felt overwhelmed, exhausted, and discouraged. However, I never lost sight of my purpose and passion for empowering families to break free from generational patterns of brokenness.
One of my biggest struggles was overcoming the limiting beliefs that seemed to be rooted in my DNA. I realized it’s possible to work hard, have big goals, and still self-sabotage yourself in the same breath! Yes, words have power! However, through prayer and self-reflection, I was able to identify these patterns and work on transforming my mindset.

Another challenge was building a successful business and TV show while raising eight children. Balancing the demands of motherhood with the demands of entrepreneurship requires a lot of sacrifices, hard work, and organization. However, with the support of my family and team, I was able to build a successful business that is making a positive impact on families around the world.

My journey to becoming a mother of change and cultural leader has been full of challenges, but each obstacle has helped me to grow stronger, more resilient, and more committed to my purpose. I am grateful for the struggles because they have made me the person I am today, and they have given me the tools to empower others to create positive change in their own lives.

I believe that every obstacle leads to a new way to overcome it!

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
As a leader and entrepreneur, I believe taking risks is essential to achieving success. In fact, taking risks has been a significant factor in my personal and professional growth.

When it comes to taking risks, I believe it’s essential to research and make informed decisions. I have taken several risks in my life, including starting my own business, launching a global TV show, opening a bakery, and writing many books. Each of these ventures required me to step outside of my comfort zone and take a chance on myself.
One significant risk I took was starting my own business, Families of Change LLC; it’s a business that is focused on leading families to personal accountability, which is the foundation of change. So let’s say it came with its own set of challenges. However, I knew I had a unique perspective and skill set that could help families worldwide. It was a risk to invest time, energy, and resources into starting a business, but it was a risk that has paid off immensely.

Another risk I took was launching a global TV show, The Mother of Change Show. This was a significant undertaking, and there were many unknowns and uncertainties. However, I believed in the show’s power to inspire and empower moms worldwide, and I was willing to take the risk. It has been an incredible journey, and I am proud of the show’s impact on so many families.

Overall, I believe that taking calculated risks is essential to achieving success and growth. It’s essential to step outside of your comfort zone, do your research, and make informed decisions. Taking risks has allowed me to accomplish things I never thought possible and has been a significant factor in my personal and professional development. If you haven’t failed, then you haven’t tried! Failure is just a stepping stone to success. I don’t wish it on anyone, but if it happens, try another way, and don’t stop until you gain victory! Then again, keep going past victory.
