Inspiring Conversations with Erin Elliott of Elliott Immigration Law

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Elliott.

Erin Elliott

Hi Erin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I opened my law firm in 2011 after working at a national corporate and transaction law firm. It was a very big change from what I started out doing, but after I went through the green card process with my Turkish husband, I began to become fascinated with US immigration.

This ultimately became my passion, and now I practice 100% immigration law. In between working for the national firm and opening my own practice, I lived abroad for a short period and volunteered for an immigration nonprofit in Atlanta.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Everyone’s journey is lined with struggles, and mine was no different. I was also raising 2 young children during the firm’s early years. That meant a lot of late nights working on cases so I could still take the kids to the park during the day. Thankfully, my husband was very supportive of my endeavor.

He ended up becoming a founder in his own start-up business a few years after I opened my practice, so that was certainly a bit risky for both of us, but we believed in what we were doing. He is still in the same business, thankfully, so far, so good.

We’ve been impressed with Elliott Immigration Law, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our firm specializes in only immigration. This is significant because you have a lot of attorneys that dabble in immigration and that can kind of be a disaster. It’s a very unique field of law that is constantly changing. I now have a partner, attorney Carrie Toth, and an amazing team of staff. We could not be where we are today without leaning on each other.

This past year, I was also the Chair of the Georgia-Alabama Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. I was really honored to serve in the role because our Chapter has some of the brightest attorneys I know.

Our firm approach has always been to provide our clients with honest and transparent representation. As advocates, our goal is to have our client’s cases approved, but being their counselor also means walking clients through the process to understand every step, every risk, and the associated costs. Our clients really appreciate this approach.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I played rugby in college and a bit after college on a club team. I was the team flanker.
