Life and Work with Admire Dimoh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Admire Dimoh.

Admire, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a self-taught Hair Stylist who started doing hair at the age of 15. Born and raised in West Africa Sierra Leone, I moved to the U.S to escape the Civil war That was going on in my country at the time. Always having a passion for Hair, I decided to pursue my career in the Hair Industry by moving to Boston MA, where I attended Empire Beauty School in 2012. In the summer of 2015, I packed my belongings, left my job, family, friends, and moved to Atlanta, Georgia with a few hundred dollars and a dream. When I first moved to Atlanta, I was working dead-end jobs to build clientele. As you can imagine, moving to a new state where you barely know anyone has its pros and cons.

The Hair Industry is not only big in Atlanta, but it provides more opportunities for Hair Stylists. With the grace of God, I have been fortunate to do amazing things with my career, I have met phenomenal people along the way, even to the point of working with widely recognizable celebrities.

Currently residing in Atlanta GA, I have been working hard to expand my talents and share my gift globally one hairstyle at a time.

Against all odds, I still continue to excel exponentially in my craft, whilst working hard to become a household name like those who have come before me.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Doing hair is not as easy as it looks because it takes an immense amount of time, creativity, focus, longevity, and determination in order to make it in this business. It has not been a smooth road, because I’ve faced a lot of personal challenges along the way from friends and family not believing in me, as well as me doubting myself. But I thank God for the ability to be self-taught and for perfecting my craft as an individual. I love my job so I believe the struggles are definitely worth it.

My advice to upcoming hairstylists is this:
You have to stay determined, be patient, master your craft, stay focused, and never give up.

Please tell us about Admire Your Beauty.
I’m versatile in many styles but Protective Styles are my area of expertise and the reason why is because I am proudly west African and braiding is a cultural expression of our people. I’ve also perfected my own technics that when it comes to utilizing the hair, the texture, how I braid, and finishing touches. I am also expanding my brand to all aspect of beauty, I’ve not limited myself to just hair but I’ve expanded my horizon to inspiring others to live a purpose-filled life starting from their crowns. I also believe in philanthropic, and humanitarian work, I plan on using a percentage of my business earning to donate to charity.

As a brand, I am most proud of NOT EVER GIVING UP. I am also proud of where I am today and the trajectory of my business. But mostly I’m proud of the connections and relationships I’ve been able to form with each and every client I’ve serviced. Personally, I am proud of stepping out on faith and coming to a city like Atlanta from Boston Massachusetts, because The beauty industry is very big in Atlanta. I’m excited to be amongst the best of the best, learning, growing and perfecting my craft.

God sets me apart from others because the Bible says in Proverbs 18:16 that my gift will make room for me. This scripture is so true because my gift has opened doors for me in places that I’ve never thought I’ll go, for example, Voyage ATL. I never thought that I’d get this opportunity but my gift has made room for me.

Who have you been inspired by?
Women like Kim Kimble is whom I admire the most. Kimble’s celebrity hair styling career really got started with Halle Berry when Berry was filming B•A•P•S. She has had her techniques and innovative stylings featured internationally in Vanity Fair, Essence, Glamour, and Vogue. Women like Kim Kimble give us hope that with hard work, determination, and focus, we can become successful.
