Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Latrice
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m an Alabama native that loves naps, music, reading, and Alabama football. Intending to redefine my life, I relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, in 2014. The move became a game-changer for me, sequentially, placing me on the path of discovering my purpose and pursuing my dreams. My initial interest in writing started in middle school to which I shared through short stories with classmates that would resurface at the age of 25. Over the years, I’d worked diligently at receiving a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The experience illuminated my personal growth, but I soon discovered, it would not be the route planned to fulfill my life’s purpose. The combination of my education and the life experiences that left emotional scars and built an emptiness of self-love all nurtured my firm belief in the pursuit of personal healing.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Entering into new territory, the world of entrepreneurship in the digital age that we live in can be intimidating and overwhelming at times. The idea of sharing pieces of myself has always been a clear part of my vision of helping others; however, the sharing aspect was a significant struggle for me initially. Social media is such a powerful tool to reach the masses; however, there were hurdles in transforming from a quiet follower to an influencer with a message to share. I often found myself feeling uncomfortable with myself and overthinking my content. Although I was confident that my story could be impactful to others, I secretly struggled with shame regarding my past and feared the judgment that might follow. Listening to my adopted mentor Ronne Brown and watching her embrace transparency with such courage and grace helped me believe in my ability to be transparent with the world myself. Now I post with ease, eliminating the overanalyzing and allowing my authenticity to take over.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an author, screenwriter, and enthusiast for self-love and healing, whose purpose is to help emotionally distressed women in a vulnerable space to reclaim their peace by providing clarity and motivation with navigating their journey of healing and self-love. Often describing myself as a collector of thoughts and possessing a gentle soul, I enjoy incorporating some of my life experiences and advocating for personal healing, self-love, and sisterhood into my fictional writing, social media platforms, and other product or service that I provide. I am passionate about these topics because I once lived in a place of darkness, and each of these areas was key in working towards reclaiming my peace.
I’m most proud of my novel The Pieces of Us, which is loosely based on my life and the first project I birthed. It was amazing to watch a small idea grow into a complete work of art that has engaging, complex characters and faces intense internal and external conflicts. It’s my baby that I have planted for a harvest of future of abundant opportunities.
Any big plans?
The novel The Pieces of Us will be released in March 2021. It focuses on the strength of a friendship that supports three diverse minority millennials as they tackle life’s highs and lows, all while discovering a journey to healing their emotional scars and nurturing self-love. The depth of the characters and their journeys are written authentically to help readers connect and see themselves. The aim is for readers to be inspired to seek their own journey of self-growth, healing, and creating their tribe.
I am looking forward to starting production on my web series, which’s based upon my novel. My long-term goal is to bring the project to television to capture a much larger audience globally. As an extension of the book, I will be releasing self-guided healing cards. The Pieced Together Self-Guided Healing Cards are 31 days of affirmation, guidance, and manifestation. Daily affirmations and associated tasks designed to build a tool-kit that can be utilized as a starting point for nurturing self-love, healing emotional scars, and manifesting a vibrant future. I also look forward to creating a community of women based on love, support, inspiration, and reciprocity. As that continues to grow, I plan on hosting annual retreats and conferences that focus on self-discovery, healing, self-love, and sisterhood while also having plenty of fun!
