Life & Work with Andrea Leon of Cumming

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Leon.

Hi Andrea, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into floristry began with my own wedding, where I realized just how essential flowers are in capturing the essence and emotion of such a significant day. Unfortunately, my personal experience wasn’t the most positive — the floral arrangements and client service fell short of expectations. However, that disappointment became a turning point for me. It opened my eyes to the power of thoughtful design and genuine client care. That’s when I discovered my passion for floral design, and I knew I wanted to create beautiful, meaningful experiences for others that I wish I had myself.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s definitely been a mix of smooth and challenging. Starting a business comes with its own unique set of hurdles—from navigating logistics and marketing to managing finances and client expectations. At the same time, delivering exceptional floral designs and creating memorable experiences for clients requires a lot of focus and dedication. Balancing both can be tough, but incredibly rewarding. That’s why I’m a firm believer in the power of community—networking and connecting with other business owners has been essential. Sharing both challenges and wins allows us to learn from each other, stay motivated, and continue growing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I genuinely take pride in my craft. To me, floral design is so much more than just putting flowers together — it’s about creating art that tells a story. There’s intention behind every element: color coordination, texture, movement, and structure all work together to set the mood and transform a space, whether it’s a wedding venue, a church, or another meaningful setting.

What sets me apart is the care I put into every detail and the relationships I build along the way. I’m proud to say that even in the relatively short time I’ve been in business, I’ve built strong connections with both clients and colleagues in the wedding industry. My clients’ trust in my vision means the world to me, and it’s incredibly rewarding to play a part in such a special moment in their lives.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My family has been my biggest source of support throughout this journey. I’m especially proud of my 13-year-old daughter, who has shown a genuine interest in learning the ropes of floral design. It means so much to me that she takes her own initiative to be part of this family venture. I truly believe it’s never too early to teach the value of hard work, creativity, and having a business-oriented mindset. Watching her grow alongside the business has been one of the most rewarding parts of this experience. Their encouragement — and the joy we share in building something together — has been a driving force behind everything I do.
