Life & Work with Faith Harvey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Harvey.

Hi Faith, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Wow, my love for skincare developed in 2014. In my first year of college where my roommate and I would watch DIY videos of pimple popping and DIY face masks. We would then practice giving each other facials and face masks. In my junior year of college, I knew I wanted to work with Skin and skincare.

In my senior year of college, I went to skincare convenience and collected every business card of the attendees at the event. I had this brilliant idea of creating my skincare line. I wanted to have products for each skincare type (ex. oily skin, dry skin, combo skin) I reached out to every person I networked with at the event. From there, I received a lot of No’s because I was looking to manufacture a skincare line with a small quantity to start or some only worked with skincare companies that already had a clientele. Not taking no for an answer, I came across one man who lived in TX. He agreed to help me start my skincare line, he said he saw the passion in me. In which I decided to name Faith Imani because that is my name and I knew I was going to put my all and my skincare business would become a part of me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Trying to start a skincare line has not been a smooth road for me at all. I am not where I want to be yet, but I will not give up until I do the things I said I would do with my brand. As I previously stated, my journey began with lots of no’s to even get started and unfortunately once I did find a gentleman who was willing to work with me he ran off with $10,000 of my money. Although 10k may not be a lot of money to some people, I am 25 and at the time I was 23 and that was all I had. Our agreement was for 30k in which I did a down payment of 10k to get the process started then I was supposed to gradually pay the rest as we progressed in the agreement. I am currently fighting with this gentleman to get my money back however, the small claims court says that he left out the country. When I reach out to him regarding the situation of how I gave him 10k with nothing to show two years ago now, he gives me the runaround and says that he will pay me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At this point in my life, I haven’t done anything but school, I graduated with an undergraduate degree in 2018 and turned around and went for my master’s in business and global communication which I graduated within December of 2020. Shortly after I graduated with my MA, I put the full focus back on my skincare line. I had got discouraged because the gentleman I was working with stopped responding and I had nothing to show for. I decided to pivot my skincare brand and went to esthetician school because education is very important to me and I started to think, how can I be out here trying to educate these people on skincare and I don’t even have the proper credentials to prove my authentic in health care and beauty? I completed esthetician school in 12/2020 which I attended full time for a year. I am not a licensed esthetician which also sets me apart from other estheticians who have not invested in themself to get the knowledge on the skin, how to treat it, and the proper procedures to fix and enhance the skin. Which some people fail to realize before they tell people they are licensed estheticians but that is a story for another day.

I am sure most people would say I’m known for traveling and being outgoing. I’ve used that to my advantage and taken my skincare brand to become a traveling esthetician where I am in different states providing different kinds of facials and full-service body waxing which is another trade I learned during esthetician school. I am most proud of my determination and will because this road has been hard, I’ve thought about giving up a lot of times, I’ve felt lost at times but I never gave up because I know this is what I want to do and nothing worth doing will come easy.
