Today we’d like to introduce you to Kamile Ladson.
Hi Kamile, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been working in the beauty industry for 18 years. I started as a freelancer with Mac, I went full time and from there, I landed my first area executive position. I worked in the corporate side of beauty for 10 out of my 15 years working in retail. Three years ago, I worked my first Indy film and fell in love all over again. I relocated to Atlanta in June of 2021 to focus on tv and film.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
As an African American male in this industry, it has surely had its ups and downs. My biggest learning lesson is never to get comfortable. You have to be excellent in order for them to see you as good! Always keep your foot on their necks when it comes to business.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a MUA, there are so many different lanes you can go into from drag. To FX, etc. My specialty is a beauty!! I love to simply enhance a person’s natural features!! Personally, I don’t push the agenda to look like someone you are not but to simply work with what god has given you. I want my clients to feel just as beautiful without makeup as they do with it.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Honestly, I think that within the next 5- 10 years we will see more people of color department heading more big motion pictures. Whether it’s in production, costumes, makeup/hair department
