Today we’d like to introduce you to Mykeisha Ross. 

Hi Mykeisha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Mykeisha Ross is a devoted mother of two beautiful children and the founder and director of Youth Is Life, a haven for the homeless minority at-risk youth and families. Youthislife programming provides wraparound services and basic needs through our Distribution Center. She was a Candidate for the Athens Mayoral Race of 2022. Founder of “Mykeisha Ross & Co.Creative Design and Strategies”. She has her Podcast (The Unspoken Speaking up for those without a voice) She previously served as a Neighborhood Prosperity Leader with Families in Schools and as a Previous Police Task Force member. As well as the Previous Vice President of Anti-Discrimination Movement. She has previously served as Chief Deputy Campaign Manager for the Western Judicial District Attorney Office’s successful campaign for DA. She now serves as a Community Outreach Specialist developer for DA Office. She’s the Author of “Family Secrets Leads to Generational Curses”-Caged to Uncaged, which can be purchased on Amazon. She has been featured in Atlanta Voyage Magazine 3x. She’s an Artist and Mental Health Advocate. She is a walking resource hub that volunteers for local grassroots community youth organizations. Bringing unity into the community. She’s the solution, helping launch successful impactful businesses. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My road has been very bumpy and confusing. I’m 34 years old and after my Mayoral Campaign Run, I came in 4th place. No regrets! But I hit a brick wall. I was recently diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 3. But I have no regrets about anything. I’m a true believer that our stories are assembled before we are even born. What’s happening right now will be another story that I have to give God the glory and credit. 

What happened to me had to happen to me. God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers, to have the experience of saving others around us. 

Being able to let my story (rape, abandonment, rejection, underprivileged, impoverished no nurturing from parents, traumatized by family members) and testimony save another life.

I’m a visionary leadership coach and business coach. With my expertise in helping overcome the fear of speaking. Creating Innovative Business Strategies and Community Outreach. I am a Resource Hub. I’m here to walk people through their journey to becoming the best version of themselves.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Mykeisha is a self-taught Artist. Since the age of 7, she has allowed Art to be her therapy. Art has always been a way to escape. Art is how she expresses her emotions and is a form of healing. Her creative technique is varied. However, her specialty is an Oil painting, charcoal, and multimedia visionary. 

For a long time, I compared myself to other Artists and stop doing it, especially with technology now we don’t get much credit. But this year I have been so proud of myself. I participated in my first Art Show Exhibit. It was amazing. I am blessed that I can say I have self-published not one but 2 books.

I specialize in taking a creative risk and overcoming adversity, hardships, and coaching people how to become the best version of themselves as well as saving themselves first is the most important thing they can ever do. 

I had to become someone else. My own superhero. I had to learn to love myself. I became my own Mother, Father, survivor of my everyday environment, I became a social worker, a basketball coach, my own mentor/role model, church, best friend, pastor, lover. Because I never could find a real trustworthy role model. Because I recently discovered. Nobody owes us anything. We must learn this principle. God began to teach me that my gifts shall make room for me. 

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I’m in an industry where changes, shifts, and trends happen every day. It’s an industry where anything can happen. 

It took me a minute to understand actually what I do. 

But I do know what my name means, which has been my everyday purpose, why, and mission. 

Mykeisha Ross’s meaning is “Gift from God.” 

So, what are my superpowers, it’s to help coach, lead, and transform myself into the best version of myself so that my tribe, my community, and my youth can have a role model. 

One day they will be able to say, Mykeisha Ross, International Motivational Speaker was a humanitarian. A giver even when she didn’t receive.
