Life & Work with Regina Bryant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Regina Bryant.

Hi Regina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi! Thank you for having me. I am originally from Toledo, Ohio and when I was six years old I played the First Little Piggy in the “Little Piggy Opera” at school and knew I wanted to be an actor ever since. From then on, I participated in all forms of performances, from cheerleading, competitive dance, a cappella, choir, gymnastics, and plays/musicals, but I did not move to California and pursue a professional acting career until I was 12 years old. After doing short films, commercials, PSA’s, background work, and graduating high school, I attended Chapman University / Dodge College for a BFA Screen Acting degree. I graduated in 2020, moved to Atlanta, and have continued to audition and work as a local hire in both ATL, LA, and NY!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Yes and no. I believe that there will always be challenges or struggles no matter what field you are in, but I have found ways to stay motivated and continue to open doors, whether that be staying in an acting class, reading acting books, producing/directing my own projects, participating in the 48-hour film festival, and even studying Viola Davis and Meryl Streep movies haha. Graduating during the pandemic was a huge struggle – the world basically shut down and auditions/projects had to take an entirely new format; as well as the BFA Actors showcase, that was meant to be an in-person event introducing us to industry professionals from LA, being canceled. Although it seemed like a discouraging time, I used it as an opportunity to network on social media and participate in Monologue Mondays with CD Leah Daniels Butler, which eventually landed me with a manager and 3 agents!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Yes! I am a SAG Eligible actor, singer, and dancer; I have done theatre for 16 years, but for now I specifically focus on tv and film. I have had the privilege of portraying characters in a multitude of projects, but my most notable experiences are playing ‘Becca’ in the final season of “Shameless” on Showtime, ‘Franny’ in the Marvel series “Hawkeye” on Disney+, and ‘Lacey’ in “Grey’s Anatomy” on ABC. Stepping into different worlds and presenting an authentic piece of life is so rewarding and I am constantly hungry to grow.

I also think it is important to have other interests/passions outside of the industry. For example, other than performing, I have always had a sweet spot for kids and all of my side jobs revolved around that. In 2021 I created my own childcare company, CNR Childcare LLC, and it has taken off! I provide in-home babysitting services, driving services, and overnight care for kids 12 months to 17 years old, all around the Atlanta area. I also create websites and social media pages for all types of businesses.

I recently have done work behind the camera as well. I directed and produced a short film set to premiere July 2 2022 on Youtube called “Jade 2”. To be on the other side of the industry and working on bringing out the best storytelling from my actors and crew ignited a new passion within myself. Although challenging at times, it was beyond worth it and I can’t WAIT to share the story with our audience. I look forward to directing more in the future!

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I was BLESSED with an amazing support system, opportunities, and family, and of course, I owe it all to God. I do not focus much on having “good” or “bad” luck, instead, I try to remind myself that what is for ME will not miss me. I truly do believe that everything happens for a reason, and I know no matter how slow or challenging my journey is, it is all according to the plan and purpose set out for me.
