Today we’d like to introduce you to fatsdabarber.

fatsdabarber, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started cutting hair in the 10th grade. I loved cutting hair, so I wanted to do it full time. I went to Barber school In Florida. I attended Lively Technical School. After finishing school, I went to go work at Head1st Barbershop. I wasn’t the best when I first started, but over time I got better at it and never gave up.

Then I started cutting my friend Kenyatis formally known as ThatBoyFunny on Instagram. As we learned to know each other more, he asked me to do some skits with him, and I was like sure let’s do it. Over time we both started to grow on Instagram. As we were growing, celebrity’s reposted our videos more and more.

We’ve even been featured on pages such as World Star and Complex. I’ve even had some celebrities reached out to me wanting a hair cut. I was, and I am truly honored. God, hard work, dedication, and never giving up on my dreams is how I made it this far. I am now cutting at A1kutz in Gwinnett off of Buford Rd.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was never a smooth road but you have to stick with it. I’ve put a patch in somebody head when I first started. He had been growing his hair for three years and he wanted a high top faded,, of course I told him I got him and I did it.

However, I didn’t realized at the time his hair was thin on top so I went to shape it up and put a patch in it. I was sooo scared but luckily he had a good spirit about it and he wasn’t as pissed . Some days I would sit at the shop all day with nobody to cut.

Giving out free haircuts to build my client base going to work seven days a week from nine to nine every day not being able to spend time with my family or have a social life.

Fats Da Barber – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m a comedian, celebrity barber, and actor. I do Instagram skits and cut hair. I’m mostly known for the skits and funny videos I do on Instagram and YouTube. I’m mostly proud of the people I get to touch each and everyday. Being able to put a smile on people and witnessing change is always awesome.

Even getting to cut celebrity’s. What sets me apart most is being a big people’s person. I love making people smile and bringing joy to people life’s. I’ve had people tell me they were going through some stuff and just seeing my video made their day better. Impact means a lot to me.
