Meet Abhiruchi Jain

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abhiruchi Jain.

Abhiruchi, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in a very small town in India. In my childhood, I was very creative, but also very introvert at the same time. At home I would mimic TV shows, act and pose like a model, but in public, I was quite shy. To overcome this, my parents encouraged me to take part in school events and stage shows. I did the same and I soon realized that I loved posing in front of the camera and wanted to become a model, but because of my conservative upbringing I was a bit hesitant to pursue modelling. Instead I studied hard, became a lawyer in India, and taught law as an Assistant Professor in a law school in India, but my creative side and a dream of being a model never died.

Three years back I moved to Atlanta after marriage and thought of exploring modelling as a hobby. One thing led to another and I won two beauty pageants here in Atlanta. I was the first runner up of Mrs. Bharat Georgia 2018 and second Runner up of Mrs. Bharat USA 2018. I also received many accolades for the same. Since then, my journey here has been incredible! I was totally new to Atlanta a few years ago and now I have made many friends. I have worked with several photographers and makeup artists and have walked the runway for various designers in fashion shows like the Georgia Wedding and Bridal Expo 2019, Atlanta Live Faison show 2019 and many more. I have also volunteered for various social causes to help women, children and refugees, and I am continuing to do so. This work gives me immense satisfaction and fulfills me from within. I try to support a variety of social causes through modelling, like walking the runway for autism. In addition to this, I also encourage and support small businesses and emerging artists by modelling for them.

Has it been a smooth road?
It wasn’t in any way a smooth sailing.

To start with, I was fairly new to Atlanta, and even to the U.S, for that matter. Before participating in the beauty pageant, I barely knew anybody, so I had to struggle quite a bit to find opportunities.

In addition, I had such low self-esteem while growing up. I was raised in a patriarchal family and saw discrimination and injustices in various forms, especially against women. In the place where I grew up, the birth of a girl child was not celebrated, and they were considered a burden until the day they got married. It was very challenging for me to overcome my fears and self-doubts and step foot in beauty pageants.

I started meditation to make peace with my past and exercised regularly to keep myself fit and healthy. Meditation gave me inner strength and positivity which I needed during my pageant days. I believe that it is very important to look after your mental health especially in an ever-changing world like this.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am currently working as a Paralegal in a Law firm in Atlanta. My focus right now is on becoming a lawyer here in Atlanta, and I am working tirelessly towards it. I am soon to start my LL.M program at Georgia State University this fall. In addition, I am also pursuing modelling as a hobby. I feel it’s very important to follow your dreams and do what you always wanted to do. I like to stay active and I take each opportunity that comes my way with positivity and sincerity. I believe, everything can be achieved by breaking mental barriers and overcoming fears.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
When I first came to Atlanta, I was stunned by its natural beauty. It truly is a city in a forest and has many fantastic trails and parks. Atlanta has some amazing food places- I absolutely love Indian food, and Atlanta has tons of great Indian restaurants.

This city has a lot to offer both in terms of professional and personal growth. It is ranked third in terms of the largest concentration of the Fortune 500 companies in the US. Not only that, Atlanta has plenty of creative opportunities as well. People call Atlanta the next Hollywood. Many popular films and TV series are shot in the city such as the Captain America, Furious 7, Walking dead, The Vampire Diaries etc. This city has given me a chance realize my childhood dream of modelling, and I feel blessed to be here.
