Meet Adriano Gomez of The Black Amigo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriano Gomez aka THE BLACK AMIGO!

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
During the EDM boom back around 2012, I got inspired heavily with House music and knew then that my calling was to be in the DJ booth and On stage rocking crowds. Not knowing where to start, I had a chance encounter with Dj Teknology of V-103. I told him my vision on where I wanted to take my DJIng brand and he took me under his wing he let me borrow me some equipment. During the Snowpocalypse of 2014 In GA, I literally practiced for 20 hours a day for ten days until I learned how to DJ. While continuing to perfect the craft, I spent the next several years networking and meeting people on the scene while always striving to incorporate what I had a love for (house and EDM) with what I grew up on (hip hop and pop and Rock). What came out of it was my lane in the Open Format Realm. Always looking to get better and deliver excellence, As I grew i started to develop a solid reputation as one of the go-to DJs in a wide array of events across the country. I also the pleasure to open up for the likes of T-Pain, Party Favor, Darude, Babey Drew, Shaq, Dallas Austin, Illenium a as well as many others acts/DJs as well known and respected artists as well as be featured with multiple big name festivals including One MusicFest, Imagine Festival, Big Beat Fest and many More.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
EASY?!! What’s that? *laughs out loud*

I’m about six years in the game professionally and I’m just now becoming a household name in certain areas and scenes. One of the biggest struggles was Getting over fear and social anxiety. That was HUGE for me being somewhat introverted to an extent and one of the biggest accomplishment i can attribute to my personal growth thru my career! In general, anxiety and mental health -43 some of the most important things to me and the person I connect with. Especially working in the nightlife industry where trying to stay healthy is a major challenges. Your working insane hours and the pressure is ALWAYS on to deliver when called upon and you wanna give your best stuff each and every night you check in to rock a party. But sometimes you don’t have your mojo flowing at times and your always ONE bad night from not being in demand anymore or not getting considered for bookings. So mentally developing the thick skin to overcome that as well as learn the business and how to become more than just a record spinner is one are not hurdles but more so tools that are necessary that are tough to learn but BOY are they valuable.

The Black Amigo – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m a Professional DJ and Co-Host for the Nappy Boy Radio Podcast with T-Pain and Foxxy coming soon.

I’m proud to be able to work for myself and be in constant demand for my always improving skill set and niche for driving the business of the partners who book me and people who adorn my style and energy I can bring to their event or business. You feel the difference with me rather then read about it. 😉

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The first time I back to my birthplace to spin at Bruno’s Nightclub (shout a Chris and the ENTIRE BAY AREA!!) Back in SAN FRAN on the West Coast in 2018. I saw my name on the Marquee and to me it just felt like my dream of doing this djing thing came full circle. To come back to where i was born and be able to do what i love Just make everything feel complete. Being able to develop a brand and name that is natural to me. No gimmicks or filler. Just being the Black Amigo and being able to be a symbol for the ATL nightlife not only for the present time given the current cultural climate but also for the future and beyond. My name means something in this city and other cities in the world now and that’s a lot many can’t say and I’m proud to be blessed with that.
