Meet Alycee Wilder of Styles By Sincerely in Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alycee Wilder.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Alycee. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started off modeling when I was 14 and one day I was on set of a shoot and was introduced to the art of styling. I went to my model coach, Jasmine Partlow, and told her that I was thinking about taking up styling more so than modeling and she let me do exactly that. From then on, I coordinated my own outfits for every shoot and I soon fell in love with being behind the camera instead of in front of it. I started doing research on the different areas and outlets of fashion styling and I even began to take design classes at my high school and doing miscellaneous projects, photoshoots and fashion shows in order to exercise my ability, hone my craft, and to find my identity in the world of fashion. Now I have moved from simply styling models to coordinating and producing fashion shows and creative directing photoshoots and short films; essentially taking on the essence of a fashion director.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My biggest struggles and downfalls have come from my own self-doubt. As an artist, I often find myself comparing my talent to someone else who I perceive as better than me or who I see accomplishing more than I have in my field and thinking that I would never be able to get to that point. But I’ve learned that I am my worst critique and my biggest competition. I’ve found the confidence in knowing that I am just as good as the next person; that someone is touched by my artistry and that because I was purposed for this walk of life I have no choice but to be successful in humbleness, persistence, perseverance, and patience.

Styles By Sincerely – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Styles By Sincerely derived from my artist name, Sincerely Tanaé. I create with the sincere intent to inspire and uplift and my motto is “Create with sincerity and watch everything you touch turn to gold.” I currently act in many areas as a fashion director, photoshoot coordinator, wardrobe stylist, and a fashion public relations specialist. I am mostly known for my annual fashion show that I’ve produced for the past four years in my hometown Augusta, GA. The fashion show is for the youth of my community; to encourage them to push for their dreams and to build confidence within themselves and in every aspect of their lives. As an artist, I am most proud of my ability to stay true to myself and my vision for my business.

In every project I work on, I make it a point to voice the struggles and the accomplishments of others because that is what life is about, our failures and our success; without failures we wouldn’t know what true success feels like. I also believe in the collaborative beauty of art. I always try to find a strong team of artist when I do a photoshoot or a fashion show, for example, with the intention of showcasing not only my talents but the talents of my peers to the world. What’s the fun in creating something great if you have no one to share the joy of creation with.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me, success is when inspiration takes place in someone else life on account of what I’ve done. When I release a project and someone comes to me and says “wow, this really opened my eyes”, or when one of my peers whether young or old tells me they were inspired or encouraged by something I did that is when I am truly successful. I live by a quote from Mohandas Ghandi that says “Be the change that you want to see in the world.” When I make the preparations to be that change and I see the change taking place within the lives of others through motivation that I’ve planted, there’s no better feeling of accomplishment.
