Meet André Knights of PhantomWorks in East Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to André Knights.

André, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started DJing as a youth at the age of five, learning from and watching my Dad, who was a Professional DJ at the time. Growing up, I always had a passion for computers/electronics, music, and science. By the time I was in my mid-to-late teenage years, I was DJing professionally for all occasions (including wedding receptions, family reunions, private events, etc.) Around the same time, I was starting to learn and dive into Music Production, Information Technology, which were heavily influential to me being that I had great examples around and participating actively in music education while in grade school (Concert/Symphonic, Jazz, Marching Band).

Much years later, after graduating undergrad with a degree in BS. Info. Systems continued to develop craft with music prod. Led to work with local and independent artists on various music projects. Started PhantomWorks in the mid-2000s to incorporate all Tech, Disc Jockey, and Music Production services that I offer. Since then, my business has been quite receptive, especially in metro Atlanta, with multiple events that I provide DJ services for. I continue to produce music for artists/songwriters, musicians, and film production/TV networks.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road 100 percent of the time. Some struggles along the way included staying determined and motivated towards goals, marketing and growing potential business. With training and years of experience, it helps pave the way towards the journey.

Please tell us about PhantomWorks.
PhantomWorks is a company the specializes in providing clients services, including; DJ (Disc Jockey), Music Production, and Tech Support (PC/Mac/Mobile). I am most proud that I have been able to accomplish gaining great and supportive clients. I’ve been able to have musical works placed in a multitude of film and TV works domestically and internationally (NBC, ESPN, TNT, VH1, BRAVO, VICE International, & more). What sets me apart from others is that I’m dedicated to all work presented/provided, clients, and promote positive energy 24/7.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
First time I picked up a vinyl record and played it on a Technics SL-1200 Turntable.
