Meet Anne Read Lattimore and Cassandra Cannon of Lake

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne Read Lattimore and Cassandra Cannon.

Anne and Cassandra, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We are longtime friends who founded LAKE in Savannah in 2014 after both struggling to find better pajama options while spending time at home as new mothers.

We take pride in being female-founded and have an incredible team of strong, sophisticated women who believe in female empowerment and everything that goes along with it, especially offering high-quality, classic clothing to bring comfort into each day.

LAKE has a strong online presence, our flagship location is located in Charleston, S.C. and we are opening our second retail location in Atlanta in late 2019.

Has it been a smooth road?
Our biggest challenge has been managing growth by finding the right talent to add to our evolving team of professionals. We’ve learned that taking our time to find the right fit is much more valuable than hurrying up to hire to just simply to fill a role.

Additionally, we are always looking for opportunities to reach our customers in new ways. Whether it be a new seasonal line, a new store or a new customer set (for example, our newly launched men’s collection), we work to maintain focus and meticulously plan before taking the next step to grow our business.

LAKE creates classic clothing for sleep, lounge and play. What sets us apart is our 100 percent Peruvian Pima cotton pajama sets that maximize sleep and comfort. In our collection, we also feature loungewear and day dresses that go well beyond the bedroom and can be perfect for all the casual moments of our customer’s day.

We source the highest-quality fabrics imaginable to bring women, men, and children clothing that is comfortable and unfussy. New styles are released in elevated collections that capture the feeling and excitement of each season.

Since the launch in 2014, we have seen tremendous success with e-commerce but understand the importance of experience and are excited to be opening more brick and mortar locations to reach customers in new ways. Our flagship location is located in Charleston, S.C. and we are opening our second retail location in Atlanta in late 2019.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
LAKE has experienced a loyal Atlanta following since its inception five years ago. We wanted to celebrate our Atlanta fan-base and give them a local destination where they can engage with and experience the brand first-hand.

LAKE will be opening its first Atlanta location at the corner of West Paces Ferry and Northside Drive. This established area of Buckhead is a hub of style, class and hospitality. In addition, the store’s location in the middle of “lady boss alley” puts us side by side with other women-owned businesses, including Baby Braithwaite, Woo Cosmetics, West Stride, and Eleanor’s Place.
