Meet Ashlee Wilson of The Sweet Chase in Savannah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlee Wilson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ashlee. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a self-taught Confectionary Artist from Detroit Michigan who now resides in Savannah, Georgia. The company’s name derived from my main source of motivation, my 6-year-old daughter Phoenix CHASE! Let’s be totally clear, Phoenix CHASE is the CEO and is in full charge of “quality control”! Because I hand dip and decorate each treat, nothing gets past without heavy critique from her.

My Sweet journey started in November of 2018. I dipped my first set of treats as a “love” gift for a fellow entrepreneur, who was participating in her first pop up for small businesses. Following receiving major appreciation from her and huge support from my husband, mother, and brother. I jumped headfirst into dipping and decorating. I thought I had a business…BUT there was no plan, logo, advertising strategy, marketing materials, or branding direction. I had God, pure talent, and motivation, but I needed much more business savvy.

Enter Andrea Stewart of Busy Being a Boss, my business coach and Jennifer Hamilton of Bright Eyes Graphics, our graphic designer! With Andrea’s guidance, a full-fledged business was born. Her checklist and 6-month coaching course gave my business a solid foundation. Because of Jennifer’s ability to understand my vision and her graphic talent, my business now has solid branding.

Fast forward to obtaining the LLC, completing a branding photoshoot, being booked for several different party packages, hand-building a website and an internet ordering platform, I now have the right platform to present my Sweet business to the world.

I am a MOMpreneur who is determined to teach my daughter hard work, perseverance, and major success through entrepreneurship.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Because my talent surprised those around me, it was smooth sailing in the very beginning. There was a great magnitude of support and orders pouring in… However, we all know life does happen when we least expect it. The struggle came to me by way of depression. Just as quickly as I got everything rocking and rolling… That depression diagnosis wanted to claim what I have already promised to my daughter. All glory be to God that The CEO reminds me every day that we have a business to run and I will make her proud by any means necessary.

Please tell us about The Sweet Chase.
The Sweet Chase offers a wonderful variety of delectable desserts. Our main menu is candy dipped treats, such as: Strawberries, Pretzels, Oreos, Rice Krispy Treats, Apples, & Cherries. Our ingredients are locally sourced in the Savannah/Pooler, Georgia area. Our ultimate goal is to convert everyone into Sweet Chasers! The Sweet Chase sells all our treats by the dozen. However, we also offer very affordable Treat Packages for any occasion…Because what is any event without SWEETS!!! I am totally dedicated to making desserts look just a beautiful as they taste.

Customer satisfaction is also one of our top priorities! It is our pleasure to interact with our customers, how else can we convert you into #SweetChasers! Being apart of popup shops in the Low Country area is one of the best opportunities for us to do just that. The Sweet Chase prides itself on providing the most fresh, delicious, and beautiful treats around! We have a wide selection of quality products that we’re sure you’ll just love!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Honestly, making my mother breakfast in bed for Mother’s Day and also for her birthday. The Easy Bake Oven I had also provided my mom with plenty of opportunities to pretend as if I was the best cook ever. lol
