Meet Ashley Geter of Xquisite Kreationz in Brookhaven

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Geter.

Ashley, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Hi, my name is Ashley Geter. I am the owner and founder of Xquisite Kreationz. I started out as a little girl growing up in the 90’s who was infatuated with the authentic creativity shown daily. I absolutely loved everything down the clothes worn and the hairstyles for men and women. I mean the fact that hair could be tall, sleek, short, thick, etc. just amazed me down to the clothes being full of vibrant colors and so much style. I knew from then. I was a true creative.

I began doing my hair at the age of nine. I taught myself how to braid and twist. I then began doing my friend’s hair frequently. This led on throughout college, which I began to have a small clientele. My dad was the first to encourage me to make this my career. Of course, being young, I did not listen to him immediately, but I eventually did. I went to cosmetology school and I am now a licensed cosmetologist.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road for me at all. I became very sick at 20 years old. I struggled to walk everyday. My entire body would become stiff and swollen. I went to nine doctors to try to find out what was going on with my body. Each doctor did not know what was wrong. I tried one last doctor. On the tenth doctor, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, which is an auto-immune disease. My body was in pretty bad shape. I had to begin chemo shots every Friday for a year. The aches and pains eased up but the chemo had so ma any side effects. My immune system was destroyed from the harsh chemo. I was depressed that year. God told me my body was not made for harsh medications such as chemo. I then stopped chemo and began natural supplements to heal my body. I now stand today stronger than ever!

Xquisite Kreationz – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
With having those hardships, it pushed me into my business today! Xquisite Kreationz is my enterprise that I work on daily. I am an all-around hairstylist. I do sew-ins, braids, crochets, quick weaves, natural styles, retwist dreads, and silk presses. I also sell bundles, closures, frontals, and wigs. I am now working on my next project that will fall under Xquisite Kreationz. My next step is launching Xquisite Apparel that will be coming to you very soon!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I have plenty of proud moments during my career. I would have to say being a vessel to those that are in need of releasing and confiding in someone. It brings joy to my heart to be able to help someone move forward from a hardship.
