Meet Atlanta Makeup Artist and Model: Carlia Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlia Jackson.

Carlia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Modeling started for me at a young age. I started off doing runway at about six years old, in local shows while I was living in New Jersey with my father. I continued to model throughout the years but really became serious about it during my junior year of high school. From then on, I decided to drop runway shows and stick strictly to print modeling. I have modeled for indie brands like “Currency Crew” and “Noir Lune”based in Atlanta and I’m looking to model for more brands in the future. For the past three years, I have put modeling on the back burner and really began to focus on my real passion which is makeup. I have been professionally freelancing for the past three years and enjoy every bit of it. I have been doing makeup since I was a young teenager and haven’t stopped since. I enjoy doing makeup on others more than myself. It’s something about their reaction to how they look after I’m done that is the most satisfying for me. Freelancing has brought me opportunities I thought I would never experience. I have worked on video shoots for major artists such as Wiz Khalifa’s artist Chevy Woods, countless photo shoots for models all over Atlanta, and even runway fashion shows. I have four that I’m working on this month (October). 2016 has been a great business year for me so far and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for me in 2017. Youtube channel coming in 2017!

Has it been a smooth road?
I wish this road was smooth. I faced many challenges to get to where I am now. There’s been many times where I just wanted to completely quit but the hard work and outcomes are worth it. Working on sets for 12 hours straight with no break was worth it when I got to see my work in a video that would be played all over the world. Traveling long distances, investing money that I didn’t necessarily have, and sleepless nights eventually paid off in the end. In order to be successful, you have to take risks and that’s exactly what I did.
