Meet Bashir Lee CEO of Kingme Ambitious and a Graduate Student in Philadelphia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bashir Lee.

Bashir , can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
First, I want to start by starting from the beginning my first year of college back in 2010 my freshman year when I had received a full scholarship in football. And throughout that first semester it went great. Therefore, when my second semester hit my dad was sick and he passed on Jan 12 2011. It was so hard so what I did was finished my first year off and I stopped going to school for like 2/3 years because I had to work 3 jobs to help my mom with bills because she couldn’t work around that time. She was disabled because of her knee.  However, when I started school back around 2014 I went to the community college to get my credits and grades and wasn’t really worrying about sports at the time I just wanted my grades right and my credits so I can focus more on my career so thats what I did. So I left the community college with a 3.8 and went on to a 4 year college and when I started there I was on the football team and I was going to start playing with them until they told me I would have to take out 20,000 loan and I never had to take out any loans so what I did was finished the year off there and went to the military college and they paid for everything and I played my last year of college football there as well. On the other hand, when I was in class one day at the military college I was in deep thought that whole day and I was really thinking about my future and what I wanted to do because at that moment I knew I was god give football up and I know it was hard to but sometimes you have to make that sacrifice. So I was thinking how can I put everything I been through with my dad passing and me loosing my scholarship on clothes so I thought deeply to myself and asked myself what 3 words describes me so I came up with strong desire(because I had the desire to work 3 jobs to help my mom) and determination(because I had the determination to go back to school) lastly, succeed (because I succeeding by graduating with my bachelors under all them circumstances). So thats how I came up with the name Kingme Ambitious because it means “Having or showing a strong desire and determination to succeed”. In conclusion it wasn’t hard to start I had to make a lot of promises and sacrifices to myself about putting the money in my business if I wanted this to work how I wanted it to work because having a business you have to put out a lot to get a little  back because at first you won’t see your money but when your consistent you will see growth. So thats the main model I went by when I started and stuck with it and now I’m here still growing as a person and as a designer.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It will never be a easy path when you starting a business of being an entrepreneur because its a lot you have to do and a lot of things you have to sacrifice because I had to stop being friends with certain people not because they not a good friends its because they wasn’t doing what I was doing so I had to start hanging out with people that was doing what I’m doing and it made things much easier because you mindset will become different and you will see things so different so thats one of the things I had to do for me and my business. Lastly, the reason why I continue to say you have to make sacrifices is because my favorite motivational speaker is Eric Thomas and I was watching a video of his and he once said “When you execute and make sacrifices theres no limits” and thats so true because when you have a passion for what you do nothing will and never stop you!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
To be honest I don’t look back on my childhood not saying it was bad just because I have an opportunity to make my future great and I want to continue to work on my gift to make that possible.
