Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandy Nichole.
Hi Brandy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised here in Atlanta, Georgia. I have to say there is something unique about Atlanta that seems to bring the creativity out in all of us. Still, I didn’t always know that I wanted to be a professional singer but I will say that ever since I was little, I have been in love with music. The way it makes you feel, what it has the power to say. I first dabbled with songwriting in middle school as my hobby songwriting was my journaling.
When I released my first project in 2017 with the help of my friend and engineer Bryce Bias, I began to take my craft seriously. We spent months locked in the studio trying to perfect my sound and hammer out any kinks. I’m still developing my sound every day and that’s the beautiful thing about music there is always room for you to grow and always somebody willing to listen. These past few years, it has been music that has got me through it all and I always seem to find my way back to it. Right now, I’m working on a new project set to release in August of this year titled ” Long Nights”. It’s kind of a birds-eye view into the craziness that is my love life. I really tried to express my development in my music this time around. It has taken a while but I’m finally gaining the confidence that I did not have before. In this project, I also wanted to explore taking charge of my perception of the world and accepting my part in it all. I hope that my music will continue to provide an outlet for other people like myself that may need to be told their value until they can believe it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have had hurdles to jump over in this industry for sure. Atlanta is a hotspot for music, especially RnB but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to breakthrough. It’s hard to get exposure so I was among the many that hauled myself to every open mic I could find until I finally started getting invited to perform at different shows. With every success you have in this industry, it is followed by a little disappointment. If I’m honest, I haven’t always had the best luck balancing music with my day job, and when you’re struggling, it’s easy to drift away from your “dreams. So there have been opportunities missed just simply because I wasn’t focused. Going through all of this, I learned really quickly I was going to have to do this on my own. It’s not easy and requires discipline but I think my new music will show how much work I have put in these past few years on myself and my craft.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an RnB Singer and Songwriter. I think what makes me different from some of the other artists here in Atlanta is that I’m not in this for the fame or money, I’m in this for the influence I really want to impact people’s lives with my music. I want to be vulnerable where others can’t and be a voice for people in similar situations. There are so many artists that I admire in this city and we all have our niche, our group of people that we were destined to speak to and for. I couldn’t tell you how many times music has helped me. I really just want to repay the favor.
How do you define success?
Success for me is being able to bring Joy through performing and be a positive and transparent influence around the world.
