Meet Brian Kovener of VUE Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Kovener.

Hi Brian, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story honestly makes a little more sense looking backward than it did while I was living it. I never had some master plan to end up in publishing, but I’ve always been someone who likes building things, connecting people, and figuring things out as I go.

I started my career in a completely different industry, learned a lot at a young age, and eventually realized I wanted something more creative and entrepreneurial. That led me into luxury media and publishing, where I found a space that combined business, branding, storytelling, and relationships all in one.

Since then, I’ve helped grow VUE Atlanta into a luxury lifestyle publication with partnerships throughout the city’s hospitality, real estate, and business communities. It’s been a mix of exciting moments, stressful moments, constant problem solving, and a lot of learning on the fly.

What I probably appreciate most is that it’s never felt traditional. One day I’m planning editorial, another day I’m distributing magazines, building partnerships, attending events, or brainstorming the next idea. It’s unpredictable, but that’s also what’s made the journey rewarding.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road. Building a print publication in a constantly changing media landscape comes with a lot of uncertainty, and there were plenty of moments where I had to figure things out in real time.

A lot of the challenges were things people don’t always see…balancing the creative side with the business side, learning how to adapt quickly, handling setbacks, and continuing to push forward even when things felt unpredictable. There’s also a lot of pressure that comes with building something that reflects your name and reputation.

At the same time, those challenges probably taught me the most. They forced me to become more resilient, more resourceful, and more comfortable taking risks. Looking back, I think the difficult moments ended up shaping the business just as much as the wins did.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about VUE Atlanta?
VUE Atlanta is a luxury lifestyle publication focused on showcasing the people, brands, businesses, and experiences shaping the city. Our content covers everything from hospitality, real estate, and travel to dining, design, wellness, fashion, and culture.

What’s always been important to me is creating something that feels elevated but still approachable. We’re very relationship-driven, and a lot of our growth has come organically through partnerships and word of mouth rather than trying to be the loudest brand in the room.

I think what sets us apart is that we’re not trying to chase trends or mass audiences. We’ve built a very targeted, high-end platform with intentional distribution and strong visibility throughout Atlanta’s luxury and hospitality space. Being the exclusive in-room publication at several premier hotels in the city has been a major part of that growth and something I’m especially proud of brand-wise.

At the end of the day, we want readers to feel connected to the city and discover businesses, places, and people they may not have otherwise come across. And for our partners, we aim to create something that feels more thoughtful, long-term, and brand-focused than traditional advertising.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I played a lot of baseball, and most of my time was just spent with a tight group of friends I’m still close with today. School was always solid for me on the academic side, but I was also definitely one of those kids who talked a lot and always had something to say.

I started working when I was 13, and that definitely shaped me early. I’ve always been into business, making money, and figuring out how things actually work in real life.

Looking back, I’d just say I’ve always been pretty driven, social, and competitive. And those things still show up in how I work today, just in a more focused way now.
