Meet Brianna Hodges

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Hodges.

Brianna, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a child, I have always loved to take pictures, but also be in front of the camera. As I got older, I had really lost that drive and lacked the confidence that it took to get started with my modeling career, so I put those dreams on hold. After a long hiatus and starting to actually do my research on plus modeling I had decided I started following influencers and models on Instagram who I look up to because of their creative style and amazing fashion sense.

I was scrolling through my feed one day and saw that there was an event that was being held called the plus strut the first 5k designed for plus women and that one of the women that I look up to Nzinga Imani would be there and I thought that would be an amazing opportunity to maybe get to meet her, so I signed up for the race and after doing that walk/run I met some amazing people and I also got to meet Nzinga she was so sweet but she also gave me great advice on how to get started and that is what pushed me to be where I am now and helped me with that I can do it attitude.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I would not say that I have had a smooth road because I still struggle with my confidence everyday but I have a great support system who helps me along the way and it helps me to know that by doing this I am helping someone else who might be having a hard time thinking they can’t do a certain thing or wear a certain thing because of society’s standards.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a plus-size model.
