Meet Brittney Bond of Queen B’s Boutique & Studio in Woodstock

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Bond.

Brittney, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My mother was diagnosed with ALS in the Spring of 2015. With that awful diagnosis, I dove into fundraising anyway I could and in 18 months raised over $80,000 for GA and FL ALS Chapters. Sadly, my mom lost her battle in February of 2017. When that happened, I needed to step away from fundraising and ALS all together. I picked up an old hobby of jewelry making with the help of my kids and in some way, it became therapy for me. I slowly started selling my creations to friends and family. When one day, while driving, it came to me (literally felt like my mom beating me over the head, saying “hey, here’s your gift, now use this to raise awareness and funding” with that, the idea of the store was born. I opened the doors of Queen B’s, one year to the day that my mom passed, February 22, 2018, and it’s been full steam ahead. With every purchase at Queen B’s a portion goes to the ALS Association of Georgia

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! It’s been a roller coaster, to say the least! I struggled with trying to do everything (run the store, make all the jewelry, raise four kids, be a good wife… oh and in the same time frame, I launched a monthly subscription box) my self. I quickly realized I needed HELP! It took a while, but I now have an amazing team that makes this all possible. Without them, I’d be lost! With absolutely zero retail experience, I’m learning something new every day!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Queen B’s Boutique & Studio – what should we know?
I custom design every piece of jewelry in my store and also for the subscription boxes. I have people that bring me old pieces of jewelry they just want updated, to brides and entire wedding parties, or someone that wants a custom piece from a picture they love. We just recently started carrying several different clothing lines and custom handbags that are different from anything else you will find in Woodstock or the surrounding areas. I’m most proud of the fact we are becoming a “destination shop.” We are located on Main Street, however, we are not near all the other shops. You have to look for us and seek us out and customers are doing that. And of course, proud of everything we have done to support and raise awareness about ALS.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Patience. Which I’m learning as I go. I wanted so badly for this store to be a success when I hit bumps in the road it was devastating. I’m learning now that’s just all part of the process!
