Meet Chauncey Whipple

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chauncey Whipple.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was born in Kentucky, but raised up in the North (Tri-state area), and being up north made me who I am today. With a lot of the art and music I make today it comes from all the stirred emotions from being up north and spending time with my closest friends. I’ve been drawing all my life, so it was never really hard for me to be creative as much; but what I did hate was coloring for almost 12 years all my art was COLORLESS. Crazy right? I thought coloring was too much of a process so I never did it. But eventually I grew out of that habit and really started to appreciate coloring for what it was.

Please tell us about your art.
I make cover arts, animations, portraits, I sing, I rap, I can really do anything I put my mind to when it comes to art but as of right now; those are my main focus. I make a majority of my artwork using Copic Markers and Nanoliners. I make art a lot of the time because it’s my career. I make aa living through art. Any personal piece is because of how I’ve felt recently or a majority of the time. My goal for when I make art is for people to take away anything they feel when they see my artwork and interpret anything they feel.
Things you should know about my artwork is almost 95% of it is based as me as a character facing demons.

What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
The conditions for artist today are really simple. I don’t think it’s really hard for an artist of any genre to make a living in this day of age. The internet and social media have simplified it down to where purchasing art or just listening to a new artist is way simpler than ever before. I feel as if Atlanta could do a better job at supporting artist through showcases and allowing big art festivals/pop-ups to help artist gain more exposure in the areas they live in.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Everyone can find my artwork on my Instagram – ( @fifthpower ) and twitter ( @5thpwwr ) . My music can be found on SoundCloud – Fifthpower/ACHE. People can really support me through purchasing artwork, sharing it, and letting people know who I am. Support through music by just checking me out and putting people on by showing my music to friends and family.
