Meet Cody & Mike Spears of CPR Cell Phone Repair in Sandy Springs, Kennesaw, and Tucker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody & Mike Spears.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Cody & Mike. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
11 years ago, our dad came to us with an idea and an investment; fix cell phones so people wouldn’t have to buy new ones. We thought it was a fantastic idea, given we were 18 & 20, respectively, and had been through our fair share of devices. We decided to move to a metropolis like Atlanta, GA to become the first-ever cell phone repair store in the state. We worked hard day and night, 7 days a week, to get ourselves up and running. We did all of our own store build-outs and marketing. We kept as much work within the small business community to help bolster the people around us as well. We were the 3rd store within the CPR franchise, the first two being started by a family friend in Orlando. Sandy Springs was our anchor store and we grew from there, opening a location in Tucker, and finally one in Kennesaw. Every day we evaluate and re-evaluate our marketing and business plan to ensure we are doing everything we can to make this business thrive.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As with any business, there’s always ups and downs. Election years and recessions are actually some of our best times. People tend to save money rather than splurge during these times and that’s when we come into play. Christmas time is our roughest patch, because everyone is in such a giving mood, a lot of new devices are bought and people are less likely to fix up an old device. And then staff turnover. Every job isn’t meant for everyone, but this job is such a niche training market, it can be hard to find someone qualified to do the high quality work we demand from our staff. Regardless, we have always persevered.

CPR Cell Phone Repair – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Our company specializes in electronics repair. Yes, we are call Cell Phone Repair and can fix any problem with your Samsung, Apple, HTC, Nokia, etc. However, we also offer the same high quality repairs on tablets, game consoles, and computers. We can replace screens, batteries, charger ports, remedy water damage, reflow circuit boards, micro solder circuitry, and so much more. In short, we fix it all.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Our proudest moments are when we change someone’s life for the better. We know that sounds corny and cliché, but imagine you lost a relative recently. Now imagine dropping your cell phone in a bucket of water; the same cell phone that held so many precious memories in photos. Your phone won’t turn on. It never backed up to the cloud. What are you going to do now? We come in during that all is lost moment and fix the problem. So many times we’ve fixed devices to help people recover important memories. Their gratitude is what makes us keep going and keep helping people everyday. It might not seem like a lot, but if you heard the stories these people tell us, you’d understand what we mean.
