Today we’d like to introduce you to Symone Brown.
Symone, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Throughout high school, I’d become interested in beauty. I did makeup on my friends and applied lashes and began building a clientele. After high school, instead of going straight to a University, I decided to go to school for Esthetics to get my license first so that I could have a way to support myself and pay for school. I went to Esthetics school to learn more about makeup and all things glamour. Little did I know the program had much more to offer. I learned about the chemistry and anatomy of the skin, I learned about the ingredients and technology that is used to solve skin problems and immediately fell in love with the science of the skin and all things beauty! I won awards in school like “most requested” and maintained a perfect GPA. The thought of attending a university left my mind completely. Once I graduated and started working, I realized that I would never be satisfied as just an employee and started to embrace the idea of owning my own business. In 2018 I started taking clients at my suite in Conyers, GA doing skin treatments, eyelashes eyebrows and more part-time. I’d always loved skincare products as well and wanted to incorporate products as a part of my business. I realized a lot of the products on the market contained unhealthy and unnatural ingredients so I started experimenting with plant oils and other natural ingredients. I soon created my first body exfoliant. I let my friends and family try it because I knew they would give their honest opinion. They came back to me with better reviews than I imagined they would so I decided to introduce my creation to the world!
Has it been a smooth road?
I don’t think it’s ever an easy road to building your dream. It’s been a financial roller coaster. Starting out thinking a job is all I need and then realizing that a job is not enough is a complete game-changer. I worked for a few small business owners after my first job as a Skin Therapist at Ulta Beauty and it seemed as though it was always something! Either the pay wasn’t enough, I was dealing with unnecessary drama or sometimes missing money altogether! I knew I had to find a way out. So I continue to work every day to manifest my vision!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
