Meet Hattie Inese of Creative Purpose Productions in Orange County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hattie Inese.

Hattie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Born and raised in Detroit, MI, I moved to Orlando, FL, in July 2015. My corporate non-profit does not have a physical space as of yet. I graduated from Michigan State University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s in Retail Business and minor in Theatre. My background includes dance (20 years), Musical Theatre (10 years) and Music (20 years). With a love for the arts, I knew I wanted to develop a business that would allow me to use my gifts to make a difference. I didn’t want to just sing or dance just for entertainment sake. That said, I began to build what is now known as Creative Purpose Productions, where creativity meets purpose.

As a non-profit, I collaborate with artists such as poets, dancers, musicians and singers to create purpose-driven content, This includes video concepts as well as live productions. Outside of creating artistic content, I also work with the community to provide creative programs for the youth who are not able to afford to take classes within the arts. My company is not limited to the Orlando area as I network and create content with artist in the Orlando area, Georgia area as well as Michigan. Our mission is to inspire and uplift through artistic expression as We believe in the power of one’s voice, community as well as the ability to heal through the expression of creativity.

I grew up with parents who struggled with drugs. I was sexually abused as a child and the arts is what kept me sane. I was able to escape through dancing and singing. This is why I decided to create a space for those overlooked. I want to build that bridge for those who don’t have the resources or support they need to cultivate their talents. This is what I feel my purpose in life is.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. At times I contemplate quitting. Being an entrepreneur can be a lonely journey, especially when you are developing a business that’s not heard of. To be the first to do something can feel as though no one understands what it is you are doing. The type of productions I present has never been done before. The struggles I face would be connecting with artists who will take you seriously, funding (which I fund the majority of my projects) and connecting with my audience. However, there are moments when I am able to see the fruits of my labor and understand I am connecting and helping my community in ways I never imagined. It makes it worth it when an artist thanks you for providing an outlet where they can use their gifts to do more than just entertain.

Creative Purpose Productions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Creative Purpose presents content that touches on relatable issues we as a society face on a daily. We highlight topics that are often swept under the rug due to it leading to an uncomfortable conversation. We take these topics and detail what it feels like to live in traumatic moments through artistic expression. However, we don’t leave it there. We provide resources for those who are in need and present our audience with hope and encourage them to keep pushing. Our focus is to get people to understand they are not alone, they have a purpose for being here and we leave them feeling encouraged to continue to fight. We tell stories using poetry, music and dance.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I’m not sure where I see the industry over the next decade. I can say, I am excited about the possibilities. After this year things will never be the same. How we express ourselves will be different. How we provide programs and outlets for the youth will be different. I’m excited to see what creativity comes out of this pandemic. My hope is to be able to put my mark on the industry in a way that will open up doors for creatives to support one another as well as their community.
