Meet Dale Pendergraft of Ameristar Roofing in Suwanee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dale Pendergraft.

Dale, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started working in construction as a way to support myself through college. Once I graduated and received my degree, I worked in the corporate world for a few years, and then an opportunity arose for me to work in sales at my father’s construction company. In 2007, I branched out on my own and started my own general contracting company called P3 Painting & Renovations. A few years ago, I started Ameristar Roofing as a way to service our existing client base with a new and complimentary service line.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been some struggles along the way, mainly in that there is a lot of competition in the industry. There is also a lot of new technology on how to market successfully online and through social media. There are so many new and different methods of marketing, and learning how to navigate them and find out what does and doesn’t work has been challenging. We have had to learn how to separate ourselves from the competition. We’ve also had to learn how to compete with companies that have larger buying power than we do.

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Ameristar Roofing story. Tell us more about the business.
We specialize in all types of roofing: commercial, residential, mixed-use development, and single family homes. We also specialize in storm damage inspection, repair and replacement, and repair and replacement from wear and tear. We also provide gutter repair, replacement and installation. We have built our reputation as being an honest, reliable and thorough roofing contractor in the metro Atlanta area. We offer better pricing, longer warranties, and we provide a project manager for every job to supervise and provide constant communication with the customer. We use high quality roofing materials, and our team is comprised of certified installers of roofing and gutter materials. We stand behind our work, and each job is backed by our customer satisfaction guarantee. We have grown our business through referrals of satisfied customers, and we try to finish our jobs faster and with less cost than the competition. We also are members of community organizations and give back to the community by supporting numerous charitable organizations, such as Habitat for Humanity and the Gravitt Everett Davis Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 66.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I have had good luck in life and in business. I have been able to start and run two successful businesses and employ a lot of people so they can provide for their families. I was lucky that my father was in construction and helped get me started in the business. I feel very lucky to have met my wife and have two beautiful and healthy daughters.
