Today we’d like to introduce you to Dane Caston.
Dane, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started after I graduated from Georgia Gwinnett College in 2014. I moved to Los Angeles to get out of my comfort zone, and that’s when my perspective on life began to shift. I started to become more confident in my talents, abilities, and creativity.
One really memorable moment of my life is when my wife Chari and I came back to Atlanta to visit, and a friend of ours asked us this question, ” What inspires you the most about life and living? ” That was the question that literally changed the trajectory of my life! The ability to love and serve others, traveling and music is what personally inspires me the most about life and living. So in 2015, my wife and I co-founded our nonprofit called World Peace Connection, where we travel around the world interviewing people asking them, “What inspires you the most about life and living?” in addition to teaching individuals how to put action behind their inspiration.
After creating this organization, it was imperative that I actually put action behind my own inspiration or else I’d feel “fake.” I remember one day my wife, and I were together, and she asked me “ Would you ever tell your parents you don’t want a gift they gave you or just never use it?” and I was like, “No??” As soon as I responded, I knew exactly why God had her ask me that question. That’s the moment I started to take my gift of music more serious. That particular moment really impacted me, and I’d consider it to be another one of the most memorable moments of my life.
Has it been a smooth road?
Has it been smooth!?! That’s a really difficult question to answer because I believe that this question is based upon one’s perspective of life in general. I mean I’ve certainly had my fair share of bumps in the road, but by the grace of God, it hasn’t brought me to a stop.
Now, I’ve come across other people’s stories, and in comparison, I haven’t faced their types of challenges, so in their eyes, what I’ve come up against might be considered quite smooth. Now, on the other hand, I’ve had many similar experiences or faced some things that people haven’t, and they look at me and say “ I couldn’t have done that. ” or “ I don’t know what I would have done if that were me!” To be honest, the struggles I can highlight are the things that I’ve placed upon myself.
Those are the ones that I feel like are the heaviest because we all know that “life,” the outer things, are going to just happen regardless because it’s literally just life. But when it comes to have self, those struggles mean so much more to me because it’s something that I’m in control of and I’m allowing it to hold me back from accomplishing what I’m trying to achieve.
So falling back into old habits of self-doubt, laziness, and not taking care of myself, those struggles that I imposed upon myself. Those hardships are what have made my journey thus far not as smooth as I’d like it to had been because I have the power to not let them affect me… but it’s all apart of the process. 🙂
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Dane Caston Music/ World Peace Connection – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My music is focused on making people feel good, so they can embrace the beauty of life!
You can hear this from all the different aspects of my music from the lyrics to the musical instrumentation & all the way to my overall message. It’s bright, timeless, fun, creative & it’s music that people can feel, so they can dance & create memories! This is the type of music that I wish I had on my playlist so instead of trying to search through hundreds of artist, I thought to myself why not just create it, especially if it’s a genuine sound and coming from my heart?
I’d say that I specialize in creating a positive, feel-good experience for those who take the time to come see me perform or listen to my music throughout their day. Most people after they encounter my music describe it as “a vibe” of its own, which I think is beautiful! I love the fact that I can create something that can uplift people’s spirits and make them feel good in their soul. A lot of people don’t have that ability and I’m proud that I’ve been able to do that and share my gift with the world.
That great unexplainable feeling or “vibe” you experience while listening to my music is the adjective description of what a World Peace Connection is. That’s what makes me most proud! I’m known for being the guy who brings balloon on the stage just to make you smile while putting on a show that will create a fun and good memory. I like to think of this as my token of appreciation for your presence! I believe that being intentional about doing the little things are what set me apart from others. There’s only one Dane Caston.
There has never been a Dane Caston (seriously Google it LoL), there’s no one like me now, nor will there ever be in the future. I embrace all that I am, the good, the bad, the ugly, and the beautiful because that’s the way my God made me. All sorts of random people, places and life experiences inspire me, and it is all those things that have shaped me to be who I am today and who I will become.
As long as I keep seeking the beautiful lessons in all of these things and share my honest truths, I know that is what will continue to set me apart from another artist because their story will never be mine. I love myself enough to stay true to myself, and I do what I do not only for me, but I intentionally try and make life better for those who I’m able to encounter, and that’s what I believe makes me who I am. At the end of the day I have to thank God for who I am, and that’s one of the main reasons I’m naming my debut project “Thank you, FATHER.”
The World Peace Connection is a social enterprise that helps individuals put action behind their inspiration. With everything we do we aim to inspire peace, love, and change around the world. What I’m most proud of with the World Peace Connection is how it has impacted the lives of people of all ages, races, and backgrounds all around the world already. The question of “What inspires you the most about life and living?” isn’t just helpful for a specific group of people, but of all of humanity.
No matter who you are or what season of your life you’re in you can answer this question and apply the teaching that we provide to help you become not only a better person for yourself but the world around you. I believe just this aspect alone is what separates us from others.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I love most about my city is its sense of authentic culture. I believe Atlanta is really beginning to make a name for itself around the world and create its own identity like a Los Angeles or New York to some extent, from the music, fashion, dances, etc. I love that when I go to different places around the world, it’s still a sense of curiosity of where I’m from because it’s not so obvious, but once I say Atlanta they are in amazement!
The vibe and culture of what Atlanta is becoming are refreshing, and as a city, I believe people from all over love it too. I will say I like and dislike that Atlanta is so small. For example, it’s not uncommon that you’ll catch yourself running into the same people quite often at same events, coffee shops, and hangout spots, but like I said that can be a good and bad thing because that too helps you identify your community.
Lastly, I love how uniquely talented the people from my city are and their willingness to support one another. I guess that’s the southern hospitality in us ATLiens.
What are your plans for the future? What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
Overall, the plans for the future are as follows, grow and let go and let God! Remember that God is in control I just have to continue to do my part and trust the process along the way. As it relates to our nonprofit, World Peace Connection, we plan to have an amazingly impactful remainder of the year at Central Gwinnett High school and all the future schools we’ll be teaching at.
In the upcoming years, we look to grow our program to more schools, business and churches and have our own building where students can come to after school explores and exercise their inspirations through creativity. As for my artistry, I’ll be releasing my debut EP titled ‘Thank you FATHER.’ by the end of 2019.
The date is still to be determined, so make sure you follow me to get all updates and follow how I balance life, travels, and musical journey! I’ll be doing a lot more performances and dropping some dope concept visuals. I plan to continue to just have fun creating all the different projects we have lined up.
Also, I plan just to be sure, that no matter what, I stick to my life and company mission and vision, which is to, help people put action behind their inspiration and inspire an abundance of peace, love and positive change around the world. I find it important with life’s many distractions and obstacles, I have to make sure that I’m constantly reminding myself not to lose focus.
I feel so strongly about this because that can not only hurt me, but it can also affect the other people that we haven’t been able to love on and inspire yet through our works and my artistry.
