Meet Darius Voncel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darius Voncel.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2009, during my Junior year of high school, God came to me in the flesh of a man whom was on my panel for my Senior Project. My senior project was actually on photography, and you know what?… I did a horrible job on it. A few weeks after, the same exact guy spotted me out in the crowd as we were all getting ready to head to class, he walked over to me, held out his hand, and gave me my first red compact digital camera…he looked me in my eyes and said these exact words: “Take this camera…the world needs to see what you see…and don’t stop. At that moment, I realized that God allowed me take on a gift that is truly bigger than myself.

After graduating high school in 2010, I skipped the summer and started my studies in Photography at the Art Institute and then going into 2013 started my studies in Media Communication at Full Sail University. While being at Full Sail, I felt like something was still missing, so I started interning with celebrity photographer Nathan Pearcy whom I still work with today. I would honestly have to say, that that was a pivotal moment within my growth as an artist.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This journey of mine with photography honestly has not been an easy one. I’ve literally had times where I fell on my face constantly, times where I would give up on myself and give up on the people who were rooting for me, and there even was a time where I lost my joy and identity for photography for a moment. There was even a moment where I had to sell my photography equipment just to keep a roof over my head, and go without doing work. But as time progressed, I was determined to go for what I wanted as an artist and travel through the darkness just to get to the light at the end of the tunnel. God made a way for me!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Darius Voncel Photography & Design – what should we know?
While specializing in fashion & portrait photography, My goal as a photographer is to provide artistic and captivating photography & design services that is guaranteed to capture the true essence that lies within each and every person I come in contact with. If you take a look at all my photos, you will see where my focus is on the power within the eyes of each individual, while capturing them in their most purest form within their environment.

I’m proud of how far I have come as an artist, and even more proud of the steps that I am currently taking just to achieve the success that is meant for me in the future. What sets me apart from others? Well, I would have to say my style of photography… All of my photographs are different but they all hold a piece of me within them. I even specialize in graphic design where my focus is logo, business card, and flyer designs.

I want to thank God & my Ancestors first and foremost for guiding me through this journey. Thank you for always providing me with the right tools and mindset to get things done. Thank you for instilling within me knowledge, peace, wisdom, love, and understanding.

I want to shout out the Art Institute & Full Sail for the education, knowledge, and tools that they provided me with. I want to thank myself for always being determined and pressing forward when the road got hard. I want to thank those whom I have had the opportunities to photograph and perfect my skill as a photographer.

I want to personally thank Nathan Pearcy… thank you from the bottom of my heart for being there for me. Thank you for playing an important roll in my life and an even more important roll in my growth as an Artist. Thank you for being there and not giving up on me even when I would constantly give up on myself.
