Meet DeAnthony Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to DeAnthony Hill.

Thanks for sharing your story with us DeAnthony. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born in Hattiesburg Mississippi, and raised in the small town of Silas Alabama. I began my journey as a model, a little over a year ago, while attending Alabama A&M University. which at the time was unheard of in my hometown, amongst my community for a small-town boy such as myself to fulfill such big dreams. At the time I wasn’t really sure which direction I’d go in, or how to start my career as a model. All I knew is that I needed to somehow get the world’s attention. So, I began taking my own editorial images & editing them on my iPhone to the point that it resembled photos out of a magazine. After posting my pictures online, and watching the public’s reactions to what they thought were actual photoshoots, I began to go viral where I gained new supporters & more opportunities. The support alone became my motivation to keep going. I began to think of many more concepts to execute with my iPhone.

Fast forward to today, where I have been recognized/ featured in many online magazine articles such as “Dazed” and “Today” etc. for my creations. Currently I am building my portfolio & working towards my dream every day with hopes of being signed to an agency soon.
To see many of the things that I’ve dreamed of doing last year be happening for me today just goes to show that you can do anything that you put your mind to.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t always been easy as it may seem. Many struggles that I’ve faced were mostly from being from a small town with no opportunities for my passions. This caused me to have to do a lot of things on my own, such as branding myself, to self-taught concepts, to self-taught lighting in photos, to self-taught graphic design, to invest in photography equipment, and to also travel, all because of a dream that I’m determined to attain.

Please tell us about your work.
I am a 6 foot 2, African American Male Model/Content Creator, who specializes in Editorial/High Fashion/Commercial Modeling. Something that I am known for is my talent & versatility. As a model/creative, I am most proud of many moments such as these along my journey to inspire upcoming models/creatives along the same path as me, that are paving a way for themselves no matter what the circumstances may be. I would say, what sets me apart from others is my resilience & drive. Knowing that if all else fails, that I can try my best to bring the vision to life on my own.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Yes , I remember as a child watching television, and dreaming of one day being “on tv” and there was a Disney commercial that said “if you can dream it, you can be it”. Which is something that always stuck with me.

I often think back to how I felt as a child, of remembering how badly I wanted to be seen and heard, remembering the strong feeling of optimism that i had, that no matter what happens, i would be living out my dreams, which is a driving force that pushes me to keep going today.
