I’ve been bartending now for over five years. I started with The CheeseCake Factory and over time, I’ve had a few different jobs in this field. Over the years, I found myself doing a ton of side jobs for private events. In December of 2019 is when I decided to launch my business as a mobile bartender for hire. The business was going well for me and I truly enjoyed this while still bartending full time for The CheeseCake Factory.
Then in March, we were hit with the Covid-19 Pandemic and at that moment, my world was literally turned upside down. Faced with the uncertainty of income and not knowing what would be the outcome I would face financially, I really had to come up with a game plan. One day I just happened to be on Instagram and I ran across someone’s page and I saw that they were making mobile cocktails. I thought to myself, “I know if they can do it, I can!” I knew the type of bartender I was and my level of expertise and knowledge I could totally kill the game. This was the day I brought my mobile cocktail drinks to life. I began my research on packaging and materials. I went online and researched ideas to coincide with ideas I had already come up with and they were some pretty awesome concepts.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has been challenging at times, but well worth the journey. Starting a brand new business and being the sole proprietor has its obstacles. I personally hand make and deliver all my cocktails. Doing all this alone can be tough, but I’m very particular about my craft and want to make sure my customers have the absolute best product.

My company name is DeQustayJ Cocktails. I specialize in weddings, parties, and special events, offering the ultimate experience to make your event one to remember. As of April, I now offer signature, handcrafted drinks of your choice, made to order and delivered right to your door. I’m extremely proud of the menu I created, which features my signature cocktails such as The Kentucky Peach Cocktail, Blue Eclipse, The Strawberry Smash, etc. What sets me apart from others is my attention to detail. So much time and effort goes into every cocktail made. Starting with cut fresh fruit, fresh juices, nectars, also adding premium alcohol. I go over and beyond to ensure the most satisfying taste possible.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is definitely a great place to start a mobile bartending business. There is so much room for growth and opportunity in Atlanta. This is truly a city that constantly offers something to do, someone to meet, or somewhere to go in the city. Honestly, I feel that gives start-up companies plenty of opportunities to expand their personal network as well as brand awareness. For someone with a new business venture, I would definitely encourage them to network as much as possible. I truly feel growing your business is definitely based on who you know and how well you can market your product. Starting a new business in Atlanta can definitely be profitable but setting a solid foundation is key.
