Meet Desmond Stearns

Today we’d like to introduce you to Desmond Stearns.

Hi Desmond, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Originally I moved to Atlanta from Charlotte, North Carolina, where I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in Mass Communications and a minor in American studies. I was drawn to Atlanta because of the film production opportunities that were here. My first year, I didn’t focus at all in my goal for moving here. I started working and getting lost in Atlanta nightlife. I started my first job at Mary macs in downtown Atlanta as a service until I was fed up with the serving industry. Moving out of the Service industry, I moved over to banking at BB&T, where I was a tell supervisor.

From there, I went to State Farm and then red ventures. Finally, after being in Atlanta for four years, I buckled down, and I was able to find a job in my field at PSAV, working as an audio and visual technician. Though I knew the pay was significantly lower than my last job, it was in the field that I needed to be in, which was produced. At PSAV, I learn all that I could about equipment, production set up and more, which transcended me until finally opening and running my own production company. Making films and editing films has always been something I’ve loved and enjoyed doing; however, knowing how to make it into a business something I learned through my experience. Now since then, I have been able to successfully open and run my own small business film production company that focuses on video marketing and connect clients, fans or whatever the case may be to a business, artist, host or more and with that, I plan on growing as time continues.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, the road hasn’t been the easiest. Really learning the business aspect of video marketing and video production has been a challenge but with constant research and determination, I’ve been able to overcome a lot of hurdles with simply reading and wanting to know more knowledge in applying that same knowledge out in the field.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My name is Desmond Stearns. I’m a video film director, and I open my own video production company, Everything Digital Productions. With my company, I plan on connecting businesses artists and others to their fans, customers, and more. Many people know me from working with some of the top Atlanta clients from special event planning, Atlanta-based artist, Arthur’s, celebrities and more. My nonstop drive for knowledge success and wanting to give back to others who didn’t have a stage of their owns is what sets me apart from others.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Having a mentor is exactly what will take you from level one to level 10. Having a mentor in different feels is what will actually take you from level 10 to level 20. A mentor is non-negotiable.
