Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Charlie Watts.
Hi Dr. Charlie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My path into pelvic health has been deeply personal as much as professional. Before becoming a pelvic floor occupational therapist, I trained and worked as a labor doula, where I witnessed firsthand how transformative and vulnerable pregnancy, birth, and postpartum can be. I saw how many people were dismissed, unsupported, or simply told that pain, leaking, or disconnection from their bodies was “just part of motherhood.”
At the same time, I was navigating my own relationship with my body through hypermobility, chronic pain patterns, and eventually my own pregnancy and birth experience. I had a natural, unmedicated water birth that was incredibly powerful, but postpartum also brought its own challenges, including prolapse symptoms and processing parts of my birth experience that felt traumatic to my nervous system and body.
That combination of my clinical training, doula background, and lived experience completely shaped the way I practice today.
I specialize in pregnancy, postpartum recovery, pelvic pain, prolapse, and nervous system focused pelvic care. My approach is very hands on and whole person centered. I look not only at muscles and movement, but also at stress, trauma, hypermobility, and how safe someone feels in their body.
I created The Pelvic Witch because I wanted people to have a space where they could feel deeply cared for, deeply listened to, and supported through some of the most vulnerable transitions of their lives. My goal is always to help people feel more connected, empowered, and at home in their bodies again.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Early in my pelvic health career, I started in a high volume insurance based clinic where I was sometimes seeing close to 20 people a day. I learned a lot clinically during that time, but I became completely burnt out. I realized very quickly that I couldn’t give people the level of care, presence, and attention they truly deserved in that kind of system.
Pelvic health is deeply personal work. People are coming in talking about pain, birth trauma, leaking, sexuality, prolapse, and some of the most vulnerable experiences of their lives. I knew I wanted to practice in a way that allowed sessions to feel slower, more intentional, and fully one on one.
It honestly took going through several jobs and clinical environments to find the right fit, but now being at Superhuman Therapy in Grant Park feels incredibly aligned. Appointments are fully one on one, and I’m able to spend real time listening to clients and treating the whole person instead of rushing from patient to patient.
That shift completely changed the way I practice and reminded me why I got into this work in the first place.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Pelvic Witch is a pelvic health occupational therapy practice based out of Superhuman Therapy in Grant Park, Atlanta. I specialize in pregnancy, postpartum recovery, pelvic pain, prolapse, urinary incontinence, painful intercourse, and nervous system focused pelvic care.
What makes my practice different is that while the work is deeply clinical and evidence informed, it is also very hands on, intuitive, and whole person centered. I look at the pelvis not as an isolated group of muscles, but as something deeply connected to the nervous system, stress, trauma, posture, breath, movement patterns, and daily life.
My background as both a pelvic floor therapist and former labor doula has really shaped the way I work. I care deeply about helping people feel safe and empowered in their bodies during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I also bring lived experience into the room through navigating my own hypermobility, prolapse symptoms, and postpartum recovery journey.
I’m especially passionate about working with neurodivergent, hypermobile, queer, and complex patients who often feel overlooked in traditional healthcare settings. My sessions are always one on one, and I intentionally keep my caseload smaller so people receive individualized care and don’t feel rushed through treatment.
Brand wise, I’m most proud that The Pelvic Witch feels genuinely like me. I wanted to create something that bridges clinical care with embodiment, nervous system healing, and a deeper connection to the body without losing professionalism or evidence based practice. My hope is that people leave not only feeling physically better, but also more connected to themselves, their bodies, and their lives.
What makes you happy?
My son Jasper and my husband Judah make me the happiest. Right now, a lot of joy comes from slow mornings, lazy weekends with my family, gardening, making music, and settling into our new home together. Becoming a mother completely changed my relationship with my body, my work, and what I value.
I also genuinely love helping people feel better in their bodies. There’s something really powerful about helping someone stop leaking, get out of pain, or reconnect with themselves after feeling dismissed or disconnected for a long time. Pelvic health can feel so isolating for people, so being able to help someone feel normal, empowered, and comfortable again is incredibly meaningful to me.
