Meet Dr. Courtney Acree of Court Too Fly

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Courtney Acree.

Dr. Acree, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been a chiropractor for ten years and a flight attendant for two years. I’ve known since the age of 12 that I wanted to be a doctor and by doing that, I wanted to help people. Some may wonder, “Why the transition?” Well, I’ve never stopped being a doctor of chiropractic and I never stopped practicing. I was a high school and college educator for six years while practicing chiropractic before I decided to become a flight attendant. I’ve always been the type of person that likes variety in my work life. That’s one of the ways I keep my passion for serving people.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has most definitely not been a smooth road. To begin, my mother suddenly passed away a few months after I graduated from chiropractic school, only three weeks before I was scheduled to take my final set of national boards. Thank God I passed! Then, after working at my 1st chiropractic office for one year, I was abruptly laid off. I was unemployed, struggling to find another associate position, and battling depression. This is when I decided to transition to education and practice chiropractic the way I wanted by being a contractor. You set your schedule, your fee, and you cover the offices of your choice. I enjoyed practicing as a contract chiropractor and teaching for years. And then, the high school where I taught transitioned from being a part of the public school system, and what I taught would change. I enjoyed being a career technical education teacher (CTE), but when I was offered another course, I knew it was time for me to transition. So, I decided to apply to be a flight attendant. It has always been a career that piqued my interest.

Court Too Fly – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
As far as my flight attendant life and career, I document that on my YouTube channel, Court Too Fly. I’m known for educating and explaining in detail topics and information that most skip. I show my audience the flight attendant life as well as how to stay healthy and safe while traveling. Although my channel is small, I’ve been growing in the past few months as more people discover my channel and realize they enjoy my content. As for being a doctor of chiropractic, people enjoy my bedside manner, the fact that I take time to address the soft tissue surrounding the joints before I complete a chiropractic adjustment, and that I educate my patients about their bodies. In anything that I do, I feel as though education is key. It’s important to teach people about what you’re doing, especially if there’s a great deal of misinformation about your career path(s).

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I have two! Completing my professional program and earning my doctor of chiropractic degree, which took four years. And being hired on the spot at my current airline, which took 1.5 years from the time I applied. Patience is truly a virtue.
