Meet Dr. Tequilla Hill of Indigo Gypsy Yoga in East Cobb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Tequilla Hill.

Dr. Hill, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always been into holistic approaches to wellness and wanted to incorporate those practices into my personal and professional life. My personal wellness pursuit led me to the beautiful practice of yoga. Yoga has profoundly impacted my life in wonderful ways and I wanted to share that experience with others.

Yoga and Therapy are perfect lovers, each is distinct and uniquely valuable but when they enjoin, they create endless possibilities for transformation that are far greater than what is available when either are practiced alone. – Dr. M. Caplan

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Some of the struggles were trying to balance my self-care, passion for teaching and acquiring the business acumen to manage the demands of a small studio. Staying grounded in my self-care and vision helped to ground me through the transitions as well as the peeks and valleys of mindful entrepreneurship.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Indigo Gypsy Yoga story. Tell us more about the business.
My vision has been to create an intimate yoga space that focuses on emotional wellness as the foundation of our classes, events, and workshops. Our classes are created to lift the spirit, open the heart, sharpen the mind, and nourish the body to tackle the everyday trials of being human.

I teach a sweet, slow, and sometimes strong style of moving through poses with breath. Each pose becomes an opportunity to make peace with one’s body. Furthermore, all of my classes are inclusive, noncompetitive, and welcoming of all bodies.

I specialize in using yoga for conditions that are supported by my training in psychotherapy—stress, life transitions, self-esteem issues, life balance, and emotional wellness.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck is created.

I am an eternal optimist. This outlook on life helps me to navigate through the sweet and bitter moments that occur while being human.
