Today we’d like to introduce you to Egreta Stone.
Born Las Vegas, Nevada, FineAzzGigi is a rising female emcee who’s upbringing offered no silver spoon. Gigi, whose real name is Egreta Stone, spent some time growing up in the city of Pittsburgh before moving to Atlanta. She set out to lead a positive example for her siblings and put her pen to work while starting her nursing career. Fast forward two years later, Gigi had her first studio session. Although never to be released, it was the sample of approval she needed to take music seriously.
“I started making writing songs in 2017. Eventually, gained enough confidence to start rapping out loud. That is when my family realized that I could actually rap,” she states. I had my first studio session in 2019, where I made a song that never got released called ‘BBA.’ After that, I realized I really could actually rap and I was good at it. I was not just a pretty face and nice body that went in the studio and said some bull Shit like a lot of females.”
Egreta draws inspiration from the likes of Nicki Minaj, Mulatto, and Cardi B to name a few. With that being said, she’s releasing her debut on September 25. The single is titled “Like Me” and embodies what it means to be an independent woman walking in confidence. The record is inspiring by lessons Gigi learned during a recent breakup.
“I think style is very important being a female artist, style is something that can make you different and set you apart,” she states. “That’s what I’m going for. I don’t want to be like anyone or sound like anyone but Gigi.”
When it comes to Gigi, she’s a resilient artist to keep an eye on in 2020. Her goal is to further her education and become a Nurse Practitioner while climbing up the charts and becoming mainstream. Furthermore, she spoke on plans to open her own record label in the future.
“My fans can expect music that is gonna make them feel like yeah, I’m that bitch. I’m very independent myself so my music definitely comes off that way,” Gigi states. “I want my fans to be on some cocky shit period. Expect visuals, choreography, and style that just different.”
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This journey has not been a smooth road at all. It took time for me to find my sound and what works for me. I’m still finding my sound to be honest. However, this music industry is ruthless and it requires tuff skin. So many people tell me what they can and will do for me, so many people tried to play me in so many different aspects. Also, dealing with personal issues and just trying to stay focus to keep giving my fans content and act like I’m happy even when some days I’m not. I know it will be worth it in the long run. But this road is everything but smooth.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
My name is Gigi, I am an artist based out of Atlanta, GA. I am the next upcoming female rapper! What sets me apart from others is my ambition and my drive. That’s probably typically but it’s true. I have a crazy ambition and I won’t stop until I achieve my goal. Also, I really can rap, not all females can rap and I’m not being shady but let’s be honest; some of these artists blow up based of there looks. Imma bring back the bars, the freestyles, the pain, the hunger in my music.. imma show the world female rap still exist!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I don’t feel like I should of done anything different. Everything happens for a reason and becomes lessons learned in life. I’m grateful for the good, bad, and ugly.
