Today we’d like to introduce you to Hadassah Joseph.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Beau Beginnings grew from my personal stories as a young immigrant woman living and discovering herself in Georgia. There are so many beautiful stories that I could share but the one that has left an imprint on me was the birth of my first son. After a heroic feat that knocked the breath of me (literally), my best friend visited at brought me this gift bath gift set. As glorious as childbirth can be, I felt sad, and a dire loss that few people speak of. Receiving the gift felt like my friend saw me as the person and that made me feel beautiful. Another major pivotal moment was after the birth my second son and completing my BSW degree at GSU (Go Panthers!). I decided to have a longer maternity leave and needed a side hustle to help with those student loans, keep those creative juices flowing and support my MSW education journey. In was between these transitional phase, I met my first wedding business coach, Rhonda Armstrong at a female empowerment support group who gently guided me into the wedding industry as a wedding officiant. After a few wedding ceremonies under my belt and fully enrolled at UGA’s MSW program, I decided to merge my passion for mindfulness, mental health and weddings and created – Beau Beginnings.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As with any major project, NOTHING is easy but that is what makes it interesting! In the early stages of starting the business, learning to ask for help was a struggle for me because I did not want anyone to know what I was planning. I was a victim of imposter syndrome and I thought that if I worked in silence and it did not work, then I could pack everything discreetly. Boy was I wrong!!! As I invested more time, money into the business I, I knew Beau Beginnings is here for a greater purpose than originally intended.
I’ve always been a creative person and not so much a natural business savvy person. All this had to change once I decided to take things seriously that propelled me to find people and places that enhanced my business management and administrative skills as a solopreneur.
As a business person amid Covid-19, figuring how to continue services to our wedding couples is quite challenging. The Covid-19 situation has forced me to reflect, connect and hone in on Beau Beginnings’ core values – family dignity, love, self-worth, and exceptional customer service. While I may not have active weddings at this time, I am finding creative ways to express our values while supporting our wedding community. We have promoted family dignity and self-worth by sharing free self-care and relationship tips to our audience and acted as a wedding liaison as I connect couples to support services and awesome vendors that are here to nourish and protect clients’ wedding dreams.
Beau Beginnings – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Beau Beginnings is a wholistic company that provides wedding officiant services, premarital education and wedding wellness coaching to our mindful clients. One of the core values is exceptional client experience and we do this by collaborating with our couples on multiple levels of the wedding ceremony planning experience. We get t know our couples’ love story, desired outcomes, and wedding expectations via our wedding workshops. During our wedding workshops, we teach our couples how to maximize mindful opportunities during their engagement and how they can remain centered and present on their wedding day.
Beau Beginnings is proud to invest in every couple’s health and we do so by offering our “Mindful Bride Box” as a subscription or gift box. We also offer simple pre-wedding wellness sessions that encourage positive thought work, simple yoga and breathing exercises to prepare the mind, body, and spirit for your special day. Lastly, every wedding ceremony investment includes the SYMBIS assessment that helps the couple to identify their strengths and areas to improve.
What I am most proud of is the collaboration between my mindful couples and Beau Beginning. 5% of each ceremony proceeds go towards local agencies that fight against homelessness, intimate partner violence, and poverty. It is a blessing to know that not only our couple’s wedding day brought joy to them and their families but also the local families of Metro Atlanta.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me can be summed up by one of my favorite bible verses Matthew 25:14–30. Success is making the best of your gifts in the space you are in. For me personally, if I can impact at least one couple’s relationship for the better through encouragement, support, premarital education that is success to me! But of course the more the merrier (winks eye).
