Meet Mona Sullivan of Jack N’ Elle Playhouse in Oak Grove (Decatur)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mona Sullivan.

Mona, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story is relatable to many working parents – I was continuously looking for work life balance and yet corporate america had its grasp on me both mentally and physically.

I had two young daughters (now three!) and there were no indoor playspaces solely for younger children where I could casually socialize with other parents or guardians while my daughters safely played and made friends. Once I left my corporate vice president position to spend more time with my young daughters, it was the perfect opportunity to build the space I and other parents who I knew were looking for.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been bumpy but so rewarding! It has been an impressive learning experience and let’s just say my MBA definitely came in handy! Struggles, I had and will continue to face are common to any new business – financing, technology, employees, etc., etc. Overall, I would not have it any other way.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Jack N’ Elle Playhouse – what should we know?
Jack N’ Elle Playhouse is a boutique co-working playspace geared towards parents with kids (ages 0-8) and provides a tranquil and nurturing environment amid the hustle and bustle of Buckhead’s growing population.

Parents know that it can be hard to find an indoor play space that caters to kids and provide a clean, unique, beautiful, event/play space as well. The biggest challenge is finding a location that is not overwhelmed by large crowds, bright lights, colors and noise levels that can be unbearable for even the most sociable of kids or adults. That is why we are super excited for the opening of Jack n’ Elle Playhouse. Our 4,000 square feet play/workspace is conveniently located just outside Brookhaven/Buckhead and offers an array of options. For kids, we offer an open gym to release endorphins as well as specialty music, art and yoga classes for both kids & their families. For parents, we offer a calm and relaxing environment while your little ones are playing/learning.

Additional features and services we offer:
A nut free zone
Play space for kids, ages 0-8
Art, Music and Yoga classes for kids and parents
Free Wifi
USB Ports for parents/guardians
Special events (Holiday Shoppe, Mommy & Me dates, Dad & Me dates, Grandparents & Me dates, Movie Nights, Parents’ Night Out, etc.)
Event/Party Space! (Reserve the space for Birthday parties or special events)
Limited snacks and socks for purchase
Changing table, extra diapers and wipes, if you need them
Bumbo chairs in the restroom, so you don’t have to worry about your little one crawling away
Soft “adult” music playing in the background

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I am social. Who does not enjoy a good laugh with others? However, the most important trait is that I am a parent. This allows me to understand and stay abreast as to what my customers need.
