Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Beverly.
Jacob, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in a christian home where God is first. As a kid in school, I was always an entertainer, class clown if you will. I knew I had a God giving a gift at a young age. I was different. I looked at things differently than most kids. I grew up in a house of five but my mother had seven children. As I got older, I realized my talent can take me up, up, and away. I was a senior at Valdosta State University studying theatre arts (Actor, Voice-overs for cartoons, commercials, and video games). I am a model (7 years total), as well as a modeling director (3 years) & and a creative director (3 years).
I started hosting shows as of 2017 and been killing it since then! I was the 2019-2020 Lowndes High Varsity Girls/Boys PA Announcer. I was also the Crowd facilitator(entertainment guy who brings people from the crowd and lets them play games during halftime/time outs and they win free stuff) for the Men’s and Women’s basketball games at Valdosta State University from 2018-2020. I am an athlete who plays basketball, football, soccer, swim, karate, kickboxing, ballet, skating (ice and roller), etc. I do comedy skits online about everyday type things that you don’t think about until it is pointed out (Instagram: breathof_freshswag). On my spare time, I love singing (inspiration is Chris Brown and Jasmine Sullivan), drawing (inspiration is Pablo Picasso) and rapping (inspiration is “Montana of 300”). I am well rounded. As a kid, I went from having a severe stuttering problem that was devastating, depressing, & annoying to becoming the best host in the world. One of my goals in life is to have my own modeling school in Atlanta, Hawaii, Miami, New York, Paris, and California.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Hosting: transportation, my price and being reasonable, knowing my self worth.
Basketball: not making the team sophomore, junior, and senior
Theatre: Being a minority, racism, underestimation
Comedy skits: not having a camera, finding a videographer to record, being stood up, bad camera on my phone. Financial problems, rent, etc…
We’d love to hear more about your work.
Comedy Skits: I make comedy skits online and people pay me to collaborate with them. I am set apart because I am creative. I use creativity in my skits, thinking outside the box. I am known for that. I took a break from it to regroup from things in my life but I am back and ready and starting back this month!
Hosting gigs: I host all kinds of shows and events from fashion modeling shows, video game tournament show, baby showers, award shows, African night shows, open mic night shows, sporting events such as the basketball games, etc. What sets me apart is being myself and not your standard host. I make you feel comfortable, at home, and like family.
Modeling shoots: My risk-taking energy to get great photos is what sets me apart. I am special in entertainment. I am most proud of how far I have come and where I am heading in the future.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The most proudest moment of my career has to be the compliments that I receive as well as the motivation from others. I do this for the ones who may be scared to and need a visual of how it’s done. Most importantly, I do this for God. “We all have gifts that God gave us but, what we do with that gift is our gift to God.”
