Meet Jamesia Monroe of Kemunity Yoga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamesia Monroe.

Jamesia Monroe

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Jamesia Monroe, and I am the CEO and Founder of Kemunity Yoga. I started off as a yoga teacher who partnered with gyms and fitness centers prior to the pandemic in 2020. During the pandemic, I pivoted the way I offered my services and went online in order to expand my reach. I also expanded Kemunity Yoga into a Holistic Health Company offering Ancient Egyptian Reiki, wellness workshops, healing workshops, corporate training, yoga for the youth, and digital products.

I have officially been teaching yoga for 8 years, I have been a certified reiki practitioner just shy of a year, and Kemunity Yoga has been in business for almost 6 years, coming up in August of this year.

I am the type of founder that is consistently looking for new and innovative ways to serve my community by providing health and wellness opportunities that will assist in lowering Dis-Ease in Black and underserved Communities.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, my journey has not been a smooth road. The many challenges that I’ve faced in business are finding a community of other business owners on a similar journey, failed projects, setbacks, being a solopreneur, and introducing a new service that’s considered an ancient practice to my online audience. I’ve also experienced some failures during my first yoga tour; however, every obstacle I face in business is a learning experience that allows me the room to grow into a better entrepreneur. Despite the trials and challenges, there is something inside of me that will not let me give up on the vision that I have for Kemunity Yoga. As I continue to put myself in new spaces, I am confident to say that Kemunity Yoga will be a household brand that the world soon will know about.

As you know, we’re big fans of Kemunity Yoga. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Kemunity Yoga is an Ancient Egyptian Holistic Health Company that offers Kemetic (Ancient Egyptian) Yoga, Kemetic (Ancient Egyptian) Energy Healing Services, healing and wellness workshops, corporate yoga training, yoga for the youth, and digital products. Kemunity Yoga was founded in June 9th, 2018, and expanded into a holistic health company in October 2020.

Kemunity Yoga services help our students and clients clear, balance, and restore their energy in order to improve their quality of life, health, and wellness. What sets us apart is that we use ancient African principles, wisdom, philosophy, and techniques to help our students and clients. It’s always a joy to hear our students say, “Wow, I feel so calm and relaxed” after a class or “I felt like I just had an energetic massage” after experiencing an energy healing session.

What I am most proud of is the steady growth of Kemunity Yoga and completing our first year as a partner at East Atlanta Kids Club. Kemunity Yoga launched a Kemunity Kids initiative to help increase emotional intelligence in the youth, which in turn, will assist the children with making better decisions and create space for healthy communication in various situations. Kemunity Yoga also had the opportunity to host a corporate meditation training for Henry County Water Authority in the last quarter of 2023 and has been hosting corporate yoga training for quite some time now. Last, I am proud of hosting Kemunity Yoga’s first Yoga Tour last summer, which was a great learning experience that helped us foster new connections in different states.

Kemunity Yoga is a Holistic Health Company that utilizes ancient philosophy in order to make an impact in the now and the future.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
My favorite childhood memory would be attending sleepovers with friends and classmates. Sleepovers were the best when I was younger. The joys of getting together with friends, creating memories, sharing laughters, jokes, secrets, and creating a deeper bond with childhood friends was like a rites of passage of sisterhood, community, and friendship. Sleepovers were awesome!
