Today we’d like to introduce you to Jarrett Deering.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jarrett. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started cutting hair in high school… my junior year when I was 16, to be exact. I always enjoyed the atmosphere of going to “the shop.” My dad used to cut my hair as a kid and I decided then I wanted to cut hair so I didn’t jack my son’s haircut up lol. I got more serious about it when I realized college wasn’t for me.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
At first, yes it was an easy road. In 2017 my brother passed away and things took a turn, he was my person I bounced ideas off of and looked to for more creative assistance. Having to run/manage social media as well as being the sole creative behind the brand has not been the easiest.
Please tell us about Faded U.
Faded U specializes in bringing the barber community together. The idea behind it is barbers helping barbers hence the “U” part, which is intended to be like university. I’m most proud of creating connections, not just with me connecting with barbers but everyone, in general, connecting with one another. What sets Faded U apart from others. I’m actually in the industry so I know the obstacles we may face.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have built a team and I would have been more organized. But I’m still learning to this day.
