Meet Jasmyn Bullock of Not Your Average Bridesmaid

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmyn Bullock.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always been in love with weddings. So right out of college, I planning and coordinating weddings and have been doing that for the last six years. As my passion and creativity has grown, I found myself still involved with weddings but in a different way. Having a close up look at weddings, I was able to see first-hand the issue with bridesmaid’s dresses. The good, the bad and the ugly 🥴. That was the initial spark to this idea and I just ran with it. One of my spiritual gifting is to help and encourage people. I’m a natural, born problem solver. The problem that I noticed was that we, the bridesmaids, had dresses from weddings that we couldn’t necessarily re-wear again for multiple different reasons. Take me, I have six that I can think of lol. My solution is to give you ladies dresses that you can wear multiple times, that is ONE and most importantly formal and elegant enough for the wedding that you’re in. And secondly stylish and lavish enough for you to wear again.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! LOL but I honestly don’t think following your dreams ever is smooth road. I started my first business, Jasmyn Tea in 2018; which capitulated and funded NYAB. Every part of the process has been a learning opportunity, whether I learned something good that worked or something I need to fix or change. You initially start off thinking you’re going to go and do things one way and God will have a whole other plan. One thing in particular I need to work on is my time management. I’m a full-time entrepreneur, so every function of my business and my life – I have to manage and that can be a little challenging at times.

Not Your Average Bridesmaid – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Not Your Average Bridesmaid is a bridesmaid dress line. My mission and vision for this brand was to provide women with versatile dresses that they can wear in a wedding but also again and again to other events and activities they may attend. What sets up apart from other bridesmaid dress companies, we specifically select dresses that you can re-wear again. No need to spend money on dresses that will just sit in your closet. Our dresses are marketed any and every woman! Yes, it’s for bridesmaids however you can order a dress for Prom, a Gala, a Conference, Photoshoot, etc. There’s no limits to who can purchase a #NotYourAverageBridesmaid dress!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I quit my job on July 19th and exactly six months later, I flew out to LA to start my second business.
