Meet Jennifer Ngo of Beauty Bar in Buckhead

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Ngo.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I graduated college with a marketing degree and worked as a physician consultant for a year and a half. I was always working in the beauty industry while I was in college and always had a passion for beauty. I began practicing eyelash extensions in 2011 and became more and more popular with my Buckhead clientele at Beauty Bar of Buckhead. I became part owner of the company since 2014.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There were many struggles along the way. We bought the business over where we were not that experience in the hair industry. The business was a full-service salon where it offered hair, makeup, massage, nails, etc. A one-stop beauty destination kind of place. The struggle we encountered was we couldn’t keep up with hair products and back bar inventory, staffing was difficult to manage because we do not know who does a good hair service or not. To find out complaints from clients were hard to deal with.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Beauty Bar of Buckhead story. Tell us more about the business.
Our business now consists of 2 departments, which are managed under 2 department head. Lash salon and nail bar.

Our lash salon is Sweet and Lashful and it specializes in eyelash extensions, lash lift, brow and lash tin, and brow shaping. Our nail bar is Honeycomb Nail Bar which specializes in manicure pedicure, gel polish, and nail art. We are known for getting multiple services at the same time to save time for our clients. Housewives and busy corporate employees who love to get their manicure while their lashes are done. I am most proud of our salon by the commitment we have for our clients’ natural lashes and nails. The goal is to perform clean and safe services that will maintain the health of natural lashes and nails. For example, we only offer the best quality products for our lash clients, which includes medical grade adhesive, light, and safe quality extensions. Also, our nail department focuses on cleanliness and sanitation to reduce the spread the germs and bacteria between clients.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am lucky to have the skill set and experience that I gained through many years in the industry. We are lucky to have a team of lash artists and nail techs who genuinely care for our clients and are very friendly and understanding in customer service. I am very lucky to own and manage a gorgeous facility right in the heart of Buckhead.
