Meet Jeremiah Griffin of RTG Media in Smyrna

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremiah Griffin.

Jeremiah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
So I’ve always been interested in cameras since I was very young. From around the age of nine, I was shooting skits and sketches with my friends on anything that had a video mode on it. At age 13 (summer after freshman year of high school) I got an opportunity with a family friend who wanted me to be a host on his kid’s show. My friend had no idea what he was doing with the camera. He just bought it and thought he could go! So I ended up showing him how to shoot and use the equipment. From there I switched from being a host to shooting and editing the entire show.

Over that summer he helped me start my business. At the end of the summer, I had a discussion with my parents about me wanting to come and be homeschooled so I could focus on my passion, which was a film. My business started to grow in my hometown of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Where I was living at the time. I shot national PSAs, worked with former/current NFL and NBA athletes, billionaires, and so much more. At the age of 16, my family moved to Atlanta where I had to rebuild connections and my network. It was a long process in the beginning but through faith in God and perseverance, my business is now growing faster than ever.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been easy. At the peak of my business, I moved to a new state and a new city where I knew next to no one. I had to start from the ground up. Even when my business was going good, there were always slow months where I had to fight to get clients. But my faith has always been the root of my life since childhood so despite the difficult times I leaned on God to make a way and provide opportunities for me. And he always did.

Please tell us about RTG Media.
So RTG Media specializes in bringing the vision that people have for themselves to reality. I love capturing the stories that people don’t realize are there. Regardless of the type of shoot, film, or event, I try to find a different angle that people usually don’t see. RTG Media is very diverse in the content we create and capture. We shoot anything from commercials, weddings, films, or anything that touches us. We strive to create an experience that is unforgettable for our clients. No story is boring. Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One of my favorite memories is when on Mother’s Day I pulled all of my siblings and friends together in order to shoot a small documentary about my mom as a gift. That was one of the moments I realized I could truly touch and make an impact on the things I created.
