Meet Jestiney Harper of GirlyGirl Lashes and Brows in Dekalb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jestiney Harper.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It’s crazy how I started, I always knew I wanted to be a business owner. I just never knew if it’d be in the beauty or fashion industry. 2017 I keep contemplating about taking a lash extension course. I would always talk to my friends about it, so one day I finally took the step of faith and took the course.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Has it been a smooth road? Definitely not! If anyone hasn’t told you, I am! Being a young female entrepreneur is hard VERY hard. I had a lot of struggles along the way, such as doubting and questioning myself. Wanting to give up many times because I wasn’t where I wanted to be at the time, not realizing everything is all about timing. Everyone has a time and back then it just wasn’t my time. I had a hard time with fully dedicating myself to my business. Meaning, having other jobs sometimes distracted me from giving my business 100%. I had to completely jump out on faith quit my job(s) at the time and be a full-time business owner.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about GirlyGirl Lashes and Brows LLC – what should we know?
My business GirlyGirl Lashes and Brows LLC. Specializes in lash extensions and Permanent Makeup. I have the pleasure of doing lash extensions and ombré brows daily. I honestly love what I do, I truly believe when you find a passion you enough, it’s deeper than money. That’s what’s separates me from a lot of other “lash techs/artist” in Atlanta. Most are just in the industry for the money but, me. I take pride in all of my work, I engage with my customer, making them feel comfortable enough to return making them clients now no long customers. Once you’ve gained someone trust for them to continuous return for a service, it means a lot to me as a business owner.

Especially when it’s literally a million other people they could go to. I’m most proud of how far my business has come, the progression is amazing. Literally starting from the bottom, having one client every three weeks to being booked literally everyday that I work. It’s an amazing feeling when my clients tell me “they’re out in public and have people recognize my work (their lash extensions or brows). I also think I’m so proud of myself because I did this shit on my own. It’s a great feeling when you’ve built something and nobody can say they handed or helped you with anything!

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Yes physically and financially wise I did it on my own but, as far as my support team. Mentally my family and bestfriend have been there since day 1. From the words of encouragement to prayers and random motivational text/calls. I honestly can’t thank god enough for such a great support system. A lot of people don’t have that, that’s why I value and appreciate mine so much.
