Today we’d like to introduce you to Jim Cichanski.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have been in HR my entire career. Prior to Founding Flex HR, I was involved in many Mergers and Acquisitions. Well over 300 of them. Most acquisitions were smaller companies and many times due to HR risks, the purchase price would erode up to 50% from the intended starting price. Therefore, I saw a need to provide small to mid-size companies with a Part-time shared “Head of HR”. As we formed in the year 2001 this was our first offering and still remains solid today. In the past few years we have assisted over 1,000 companies in this model each year.
Our next division was form 10 years ago by Clients asking us to take all HR out of their companies. Or EmployeeUniverse model is a total Outsourced HR department supporting our Clients HR needs. We customize the service level but I must say, most Client ask us to take it all and manage it totally. Therefore, we do the payroll, yes, we actually key it all in relieving the Client of all that administration, we help manage benefits, provide a call center in support of our Client employees, provide an employee intranet site guiding employees 24/7.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We have had a very nice smooth growth rate. During the past economic down turn we flourished as a company since our model of providing an outsourced reduces cost compared to a traditional HR in house model.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Flex HR story. Tell us more about the business.
Our firm is known as the largest HR Consulting and Outsourcing Company in the Southeast. The thing I am most proud of is everyone I meet has heard of our firm and the best thing is they all have stated our great reputation.
Our service touches every aspect of HR. We help companies new at meeting OFCCP requirements, we merge several companies every year, give daily guidance as needed to many companies, and help larger companies implement best practices in Talent Management, Compensation, AAP, Organizational Development, Training, Performance Management and Mentoring HR Staff.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
You need to be in the right place at the right time. You need to know when to say NO to a potential Client so it doesn’t consume your all when you saw it coming ahead of time.
Accept Client engagement that are partnerships with them wanting the relationship to great as well as you do.
