Meet Kaiya Tucker of ID’d by Distinct in LaGrange and Carrollton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaiya Tucker.

Kaiya, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m a proud owner of ID’d by Distinct! A lot of entrepreneurs have always dreamed of someday having their own business, even if they didn’t know exactly what. However, that wasn’t the case for me. I didn’t have entrepreneur dreams. I’m very smart and hard-working, but I never thought I had what it took to become an entrepreneur.

One day, I was scrolling across Instagram and came across an entrepreneur offering wholesale for sunglasses. Although I love sunglasses, even so much that’d I’d wear them in the house, I saw this as an opportunity, but not for myself at the time, for a friend. I began and continued the process of contacting the vendor. By that next week, when my merchandise arrived, I’d decided to embrace a possible new beginning. I’d completely taken over the operation myself and made it my very own. On October 11, 2019, “FRAMED by Kt” was born. But even then, I knew I would be changing the name. I’ve always been outside the box, so I didn’t want my business to be inside one. March 13, 2020 I re-branded and became “ID’d by Distinct.”

Has it been a smooth road?
Coming into entrepreneurship unexpectedly, things were not exactly smooth. I was, and still am, learning all the ropes on my own, big and small. Including marketing, how to take enticing pictures, legal responsibilities, and more. Of course, starting off as an entrepreneur isn’t easy. Everyday isn’t a good day, some days are slow. I’m also a junior, full-time college student. So, balancing school and my business was sometimes challenging. I felt school was taking a lot of time from my business, but I knew school was still my responsibility and priority. I came into my business prepared with a strong mindset that even when things weren’t great, I’d keep going and stay positive. Overall, the good outweighs the bad. I set goals, and I’ve accomplished so many of them with perseverance. I’ve made so much progress and grown my business organically over six short months. I’ve learned to embrace all struggles and obstacles. I try to look at them as learning opportunities rather than some negative occurrence. Even when things get hard or discouraging, I still am passionate about and love what I do.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with ID’d by Distinct – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
When choosing my brand, I wanted to be sure it reflected who I am and what I believe in. I’ve always been known for my bravery to take a risk with style and ability to easily stand out from the crowd. I’ve always marched to my own beat and been a trendsetter. Therefore, I knew my brand had to be a platform that stood for uniqueness, individuality, and being true to yourself.

“ID’d” doubles as an abbreviation for “identified,” and acronym for ID’d by Distinct.

Distinct (def.)- recognizably different in nature from something else of similar type.

ID’d by Distinct specializes in women’s and men’s eyewear/sunglasses. Over the course of 6 months, I’ve also added earrings, hairpins, anklets, purses, and more to the ID’d product list. I think we’re most known for our best selling “Too Playa” lenses.

ID’d by Distinct strives to keep your fashion-forward through affordable pieces, but also to remind you that in the midst of social pressures to look or act a certain way, it’s better to be YOU. To be DISTINCT.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I’m from and located in a small city called LaGrange, GA. What I like best about my city is that it’s small so word-of-mouth spreads rapidly and helps continue to get my business more exposure. What I dislike is that while I believe it’s better to help and support others, my city more so makes things a competition. Going against each other rather than coming together. There’s enough money out there for us all. Underlying negative energy is con to my city.
