Meet Kenneth Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenneth Jones.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kenneth. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m an Independent Musician. I started creating music on the piano when I was ten years old. I played cello in elementary for two years, starting when I was about 12 years old. Years went by as I honed the skill of creating music using an electronic keyboard. I started creating music using multiple tracks via the use of analog technology and graduated to using a digital music platform such as Pro Tools and Logic. I made my first Album with Pro Tools in 2014 and subsequent Albums and Singles with the use of Garage Band. I now have my music streaming on YouTube Music, Spotify, and Pandora. I thank God for giving me my musical skills, because I make all of my music without the use of sheet music, seeing that I don’t read music. I also am an aspiring Author. I’ve written my first book called The Raven. It is a series of Science Fiction Short Stories where a raven follows the lives of ordinary people with not so ordinary lives.

Has it been a smooth road?
My only struggle was overcoming myself. I’d become a heavy drinker after my wife passed in 2014, and I somewhat lost sight of what my dreams were. If it wasn’t for me being a Single Father and having to take care of my then young son, he was three years old when my wife passed. I don’t know where my life would have gone. He kept me focused on continuing with life, unbeknownst to me. I was just doing what came naturally. I quit drinking in 2015 and started focusing on life again. I came out with my first Album “Reflections” at the end of 2014. but after my sobriety, I focused on developing and creating new music.

In 2017 I distributed my second Album and have since distributed over 114 songs through such sites as iTunes, Amazon, YouTube Music, Spotify, and Pandora. I continue to make and distribute as much music as I can, but I don’t put any pressure on myself. I let all music happen naturally.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m in the business of making music. I create mostly Jazz music, but I create Lounge Music, Electronic music, Hip Hop, and some Classical music as well. I’m most proud of being able to create so many different genres of music. This also sets me apart from other music producers, in my opinion.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The way that music distribution has changed from major record labels to artists being able to independently produce their own music shows that the industry will be wide open in its creativity in the future. No longer will a few be in charge of what the public can hear on a daily basis.
