Meet Kewanda Walker of Walkers Way Real Estate Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kewanda Walker.

Hi Kewanda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As I was thinking about my 2017 goals in late 2016, one of them were to get my real estate license to become a realtor. I did ALOT of research and ultimately enrolled in a real estate school in January 2017. As I worked as a Business Systems Analyst at an IT company, I would leave work and go to school from 6- 10pm. I did that for two months straight. At the end of the two months, I passed the class exam on a Monday and took the real estate exam that Friday. I wanted to take the exam as soon as possible with hopes of retaining the information I needed to pass. By noon on Friday, I was a licensed real estate agent! Next was selecting a broker. I interviewed a few and made my decision on Keller Williams with the help of my mentor. I created Walkers Way Real Estate Group, LLC and the rest is history. I’ve been licensed for almost five years now and when I think about where I started, no doubt this is the best decision I could have ever made! I’m able to provide my family with support and stability while creating generational wealth for my son which is extremely important to me. Fun fact…being a realtor was never something I wanted to do full time and to this day, I still have a full-time career outside of real estate as an IT Business Partner at a healthcare company. However, most of my clients have no clue because I’m answering every call, responding to emails, showing up to appointments on time and just doing what I said I would do. I can definitely say hard work, dedication, drive and several suffices is why I’m where I am today.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Smooth road…what is that!? The answer is definitely no. Do you know how hard it is to find people with good credit and enough money for a down payment? (ha, ha). This was my biggest struggle. I had so many people wanting me to be their realtor but at the time, they weren’t prepared. So, I educated and connected them with individuals/companies that could help. Meanwhile, I would host other agents’ open houses for their listings every single weekend I could in hopes to pick up clients. This worked! This is how I got my very first seller and buyer in early 2018.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Walkers Way Real Estate Group?
Walkers Way Real Estate Group was created to educate and help buyers, sellers and investors achieve their goals in the real estate market. Everybody’s goal is different as real estate offers a variety of ways to be involved. For example, one buyer’s way into real estate is simply purchasing a home and living in it. For an investor, they may not own a home but have an impressive real estate portfolio through fix and flips. So, walking through the process and being by their side every step of the way comes easy. I’m 100% making sure everything is taking care of contractually so that at the end, we can all celebrate their accomplishments. As an individually ran company, the goal is the continue to offer an exceptional client experience. That is what sets me apart. The wealth reward is just icing on the cake.

What were you like growing up?
I’m pretty much the same now as when I was growing up personality-wise. I’m very much an introvert and stay to myself mostly but I do love to have a good time with friends and family. I’m a very supportive and fun person once you get to know me. I love to joke around sometimes and just enjoy the moment. I played basketball throughout high school and college which is still a very big interest to me including football now. I’m the oldest of three siblings and as I was growing up, I always felt like I had to be “successful” to make sure they were good because it was just us and my mom. My dad passed when I was seven. So I guess that pushed me to always be focused on the future and what I wanted my life to encompass. I’m still not where I want to be but I’m so happy to see how far I’ve come.
